i have been told by a few trusty sources that installing a non plumback BOV on my blacktop Sr20det will cause it to run rich as it confuses the air flow system which forces the pump to feed more fuel into the system. this will cause my car to waste alot of fuel and is what causes most of the black soot on the back of the rear bar.

at the moment i am running a stock SR20det S13 blacktop with the following mods:
040 Fuel Pump
FMIC
3 inch exuast
remapp ECU from Unigroup
stock turbo running 14.5 PSI.
(complete standard air intake with air box)

at the moment my car drives absolutely mint and i get about 480 ks from a full tank.

I want to install a BOV but i dont want it to give me problems.

any advice at all will be greatly appreciated??

thanks
Nick

Don't do a damn thing.

Definitely not worth the wank factor noise, nor the extra attention from the law enforcers.

i do agree with you but i have read before that running no BOV and having the turbo spooling to 14.5 PSI is not healthy for the turbo at all...

the 180sx comes standard with a BOV and i have no BOV at all on mine...it was removed by previous owner. it had a little turbosmart BOv which i took off cos it caused a lot of problems.

Im getting close to 500kms from a tank and ive got a blitz BOV that is louder than loud, although Im running stock boost I guess.

If I can get more kms by fitting a plumback, then I guess Ill do that. Only problem is that the BOV is welded into the pipe and to change it i need a new pipe and a new BOV as this one doesnt look like it can be changed to plumback.

I'm running a HKS SSQV PIEW PIEW noisemaker deluxe, HKS fmic, Walbro fuel pump and Blitz sus intake... I'm getting around 480km's to the tank... I've driven my car:

1.stock

2.stock with just the new bov

3.bov and walbro

4.bov fmic and walbro

5.bov fmic walbro and intake

My impressions are

1. smooth ride, smooth between gearchanges, pops rarely on gearchanges

2. smooth ride, a little more feedback between gearchanges, pops a little more on liftoff

3. smooth ride, some feedback between gearchanges, pops a little more than it used to on gear changes and liftoff

4. feedbacky(er) ride, nicely feedbacky gearchanges, common on the popping off...

5. alot feedbackier ride than before, nicely feedbacky gearchanges, verbose on the popping off
