Car: '97 180sx Type X
After looking at about 10 180s over the last month that varied from good to shitbox, ive finally found one id be happy to call my own.

1997 Type X, white, 75000kms. Completely stock minus the pod, exhaust, stereo and steering wheel. It drives great and is in awesome condition with only minor paint damage on a passenger mirror and a slight crack above the rear passenger wheel. Minus the dealer, I am the first AU owner. the compliance plate isnt even on yet, but will be by the end of th week.

Its my first turbo and my first manual car. My current car is an auto 3L VL (which ive had nearly 3 years to the day), and while its given me its fair share of thrills and spills Im getting fed up with the parts of the car that werent made by nissan (everything but the motor :P), not to mention the power output to fuel ratio is kind of annoying. Itll still have a place as my daily driver until I get some security fitted in my 180.

I bought the Type-X despite not being a huge fan of the front bar or the wing that comes on them from the factory, and im still debating if I should do a bootswap/have the wing taken off or leave it. Its growing on me slightly, but i think the 180s look much sharper without one. I had plans to change the body kit anyway, and perhaps even do a sil80 conversion (I really like the front of silvias, not such a fan of the rear though). it also seems to have an additional lip fixed onto the bottom of the front bar that makes the type X front look a bit better.

First thing Ill be doing is car alarm + a decent stereo, after all I spend more time inside the car than outside looking at it, so I want my creature comforts to be there for me. Im looking at one of those new alpine Media units that connects to ipods, anyone had any experience with them? Would also like to hear some thoughts on good car alarms.

I have pictures but my camera phone (while being pretty good for a camera phone) just doesnt do it justice. Ill take some with my proper camera when I take delivery, which if all goes to plan, will be this friday :)

anyone who wants to throw some advice at me feel free.

Version one imports in botany. He doesnt do many Silvias (has maybe 2 in there plus this 180) but has a LOT of 350GTs.

Every car I looked at in there is fantastic quality and was immaculate inside and out. took dad in there to check my 180 out the other day and he nearly drove out in a 350GT he was that impressed :o

Yeah. he imports and compliances the car all within the one workshop which makes it easier too I guess. he said he doesnt do much importing for customers, he just finds good quality cars, brings em in, compliances them and leaves em on the show room floor until they are sold, then regos them.

the two Rx7s in there at the moment are bloody nice. If I had more money to play with it would be a hard choice - so many quality cars in there.

Got her home today :D awesome to drive and lots of fun learning how to not stall in the middle of a busy intersection (first manual transmission) Heres some pics/info.

Stats:
1997 Type X (meaning spoiler, body kit and rims were Nissans idea, not mine)
75000kms
HKS air filter
Ridiculous blow off valve that unleashes a vortex of misery at every shift.
3.5 inch exhaust
$14000 AUD

Suprised it passed compliance with that steering wheel. Looks like a nice clean 180. Making me feel like I want to buy another but must resist temptation.

Nice car dude.

I personally love the look of the stock type X kit + rear spoiler, and the lip sets off the front bar nicely =D.

+1 on the ' How did it pass compliance with that steering wheel '. Really, how did it? the Type X models onwards all need to be complied with an airbag steering wheel o_o (I've been looking into type x's for some time now, and this is one of the things which threw me off on getting a x model), also, how'd it go with the BoV that was connection if it makes some rediculously loud noise :-?

A part from all that, very nice car and seems like ya got a good buy!!

I dont know how it passed compliance, I didnt have any part of that process. All I know is that Sergey imports the cars, compliances and sells them. the seat belts and side indicators have been changed to aussie standards (my mates 180 still has jap indicators and belts and definitely was not done properly).
