Hey guys,

Names josh, from wollongong,
Seriously thinking about buying a 97 180SX type X

I'm coming from a Toyota Corolla (1.6L 4cyl)

Would love to know, the flaws and the gains in a 180.

Help would and will be appreciated!

Thanks guys =)

Well, they are a great looking car. Bang for buck, you probably couldn't do much better in terms of performance. The Type-X also has some of the updated safety features which the earlier Silvia and 180SX missed out on, such as ABS and an airbag.

As with all the S13 series, there is a very extensive range of aftermarket parts available.

Don't expect it to be a very cheap car to run compared to a Corolla, especially if you are going to modify it. :)

since you're new here,my first suggestion to you would be to use the SEARCH FUNCTION to find the information you're after.

features of the type X are fairly well known, and the reasons for not putting RB's into the S chassis have also been covered MANY,MANY,MANY times over, with varying levels of vitriol in each thread that's discussed it.
I'll save you some time with that one: just don't do it. if you want an explanation as to why it's such a stupid, ridiculous and essentially pointless exarcise,so a search and you'll find quite a few reasons.

if after you've searched the forum you still don't have any answers, people may then help you out with some.

Justin...

hmmm...if you want a 96 Type X with all the goodies and RB ass whooper then you can buy mine ^^...if you cant afford it then dont bother thinkin about puting an RB into a 97 Type X.

Rbs are good engines and so are the SR20s, if you buy a Type X then leave it as a Sr20det as you should know already that most 97 Type X in really good condition will owe you about 16-17k stock standard then, if you drop an RB engine into the 180 it will cost you in excess of 22k to get everything done.

wow why not buy an R32GTR????? 8)

anyhows if you want to drop an RB into a 180 and like the type x look then just buy a early CA18 180 and convert that??? it would be a cheaper choice and just buy the type X lights and put it on that 180.

Once again WHAT ARE WE GOING TO USE THE 180 FOR????
