HeLLo,

I have recently bought an '89 180sx which has an alarm on it. The alarm also has keyless entry and automatically closes the windows when activated. I bought the car privately and want to change the signal so that previous owners who may have kept the second transmitter (I only got one) etc can not access the car.(hopefully :-? ) . I asked Precision at Blakehurst and after looking at my transmitter they said the alarm was stock and there was nothing they could do about it but fit a whole new alarm system. Does any one know if this is right?. Is there any other way I can change the signal?
Thanks

try and contact the alarm's manufacturer.. ( check through all the previous receipts etc).. for all you know they could just be saying it was stock to get you to buy a full new alarm system from them!

if you're only a little bit paranoid about it and not a whole lot, some cheap piece of mind might be found with a well placed kill switch or two

As if it is stock! Not even r34 GTRs have alarms, let alone a 1989 model car. Maybe you could post up a pic of the remote and one of us could help identify it.

It was probably installed by the dealer to make it more appealing to a buyer. or if you got it 2nd hand, it might have been done before the original owner recieved the car.

My S13 or S15 didnt come with one. And i dont know of any others that have mentioned it.

200sx as the aussie version or do you mean Silvia as the Jap version?

USUALLY imports don't have any alarms installed, mostly just with remote central locking and immobilisor.

turbo timers are illeagal! they also give the thief a starting point to follow wiring back to the alarm as for a kill switch that will depend on what you kill with it and how it wired up
