I believe it was 8/96 -> 12/98 based on PowerFC dates.

Btw, don't plan on importing one after 12/97 as all 1998 and beyond models require dual airbags and the Type X was drivers only.

From memory Type X start from 96 and stop at 98, but only 96-97 models for eligable for import, so you probally find that most genuine Type X only range from 96-97 in Australia

This is true, from what i know, type x actually came out when the first blacktops were put in 180's back in late 94, tho the facelift look with lights kit etc did come out in 96-98.

Yeah, seen heaps of talk on ns.com about it and it's most probably true. Well I believe anything '95 onwards was branded as Type X.

But i don't see some newb/ricer on the street saying check out that type x to a pre facelift 180sx.

Common knowledge/beliefs always rule!

Prestige Motorsport started importing these for RACE ONLY USE because they DON'T have dual airbags and SEVS changed the rules on 1998 models which must include them.

Your mates need to adust their records/facts as no factory 180sx had dual airbags.

are you sure its a 98?

i bet its a 97 but sold as a 98 because it was first registered in japan in 98, sometimes they sell them that way in the auctions.
