hey guys, wonder if any1 can help me out

the 180 that ive got randomly makes this weird gurgling noise from the area of my climate control unit. it sounds like some fluid is moving about or like something writhing around inside there but i have no idea what it is and/or how to get rid of it.

has any1 had teh same problem and does any1 kno how to get rid of it?

It happens completely randomly, sometimes its not there, sometimes its really loud

the 180 is completely stock besides cat back zorst and pod filter

it's most likely an air pocket in the heater core. bleed out your cooling system properly, and with the heater switched on.

If you check the service manual (180sx), you don't actually need to put the heater on hot with climate control as it should open automatically when switching off the ignition.

Yes thats may be true but you bleed a system with the engine ON :P

Its a good idea to put the heater on when you bleeding the cooling system on any car.

And dont forget about the bleeder dude.

when you say bleeding the system, is that just opening the radiator cap and turning the engine on and wait??

it's not THAT simple. there's a bleed screw on the top hose outlet pipe on the head that you need to remove when bleeding the system to get ALL the air out.
do a search,as it's been covered before.

Serial Killa: you COULD say that if it was a 7M,but you'd still be wrong.

a blown head gasket won't give you gurgling noises inside the cabin. the only thing that does that in my experience is what I've already said: an air pocket in the heater core. late model toyotas are notorious for it,especially the celicas as they're very hard to bleed correctly when doing coolant changes. when you first start the car, you'll hear a little squeaky gurgle for a few seconds which generally goes away once the engine's been running for a bit. it'll occasionally work itself out when you drive the car,but more often it has to be bled out of the system.

if it has a bleed valve then there is a easy way to bleed you cooling system, all you do is open the valve and get your hose and start pushing water through, allow water to come out of the valve, you will need to keep doing this untill all you get is water flowing out of it smoothly, if you see water squirting then theres air in your system, so keep doing it till it comes out smoothly. Keep the water running and close the valve, if you stop the flow of water you may get air back into your system.

Hope this helps

it probably had an air lock in it due to the water loss, which would give you the gurgling sound.
was it overheating,or running roughly as well?

There is nothing easy about bleeding the air out of a 180 cooling system, it is a prick of a system to get the air out even if you do what you have suggested.

Also you might want to try elevating the front of the car a bit i.e. park on slope or car ramps to try get radiator outlet higher.

when they're not bled properly,it can be.
