Hi, I've tried searching but couldn't find much help.

My drivers side window keeps on dropping about a 1cm when driving on bumpy roads or when I shut the door, leaving a small enough gap for the rain or someone to get in.

I pulled the door apart and the mechanism looks fine, but it just doesn't hold the window up nice and tight.

Has anyone else had this problem & is it a simple fix or do I have to pay an arm and a leg for new motor from Nissan?

I don't know anything about what the problem is...

but I'll more than likely be able to help out with the part to fix it (as i have the complete internals of the doors lying around).

most likely the regulator is worn, rather than a motor fault which would show up as slow or weak operation. pretty common on S13's owing to their age.

it'll need to be replaced. whether you go for a new item,or a 2nd hand one is up to you.

hey guys,
i havent been on here for a while.

But i would check out the motor before spending $150+ on a regulator.

if its dropping it might be slipping on the motor. the motor is connected to the wheel with the wires wraped around it via a rubber "block" (for lack of a better word) when mine went, the rubber slipped on the shaft of the motor, so in effect the motor spun fine but didnt "grab" on the rubber. Kind of like a slipping clutch.
its faily easy to check, from memory there is a metal cap over that can be pulled off to show the rubber. you should be able to tell if its been slippping.

Im sorry if that doesnt make complete sense its been a while since i did it.

but yeh, just check out all the options before you buy a regulator.

mick

Finally got a chance to pull the door apart, all I had to do was adjust the two bolts at the top and bottom to change the angle of window, so the gap is now gone. No need to change any parts. :D
