Hey, I'm new to the whole turbo seen, rescently bought a 96 Type-X and I want to put a full turbo back exhaust.

On the stock dump pipe there's some pipe that comes of the bottom of it and joins some hose on the side of the block above the turbo what is this and do I need it?

As aftermarket dump pipes dont look like they have a hole for this to
re-attach to?

Some of the engine bays I've looked at have less hoses and other things than mine?

That pipe you see there is the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe which is part of the standard anti-pollution gear. Most people remove this as one of the first modifications as it simplifies that side of the engine.

Note that you could get a defect for this, but unlikely.

Thanks.

When I take it off, do I take all of it off or just back to the thing on side of the block which looks like it would block putting a inlet manifold on?

You can take it all off, as once you disconnect it at the dump pipe, it isn't effectively doing anything anyway

I tried taking it all of but what do I do with the smaller hoses that go to something attached to the side of the strut tower and then to some other thing in the front of the car.

Sorry for the bad desrciptions lol, I dont know what the "thingy's" or parts are called.

block it up

its the EGR. you can pretty much remove it all and then block up and holes that are left. no one will know it was supposed to be there if you do it all properly

why the hell would you go to a wrecking yard to get mechanical work done?
go to autosport if you're down that way.

and also in the while-it's-apart bin, change the coolant and oil lines to braided hose.

the hard steel oil feed and coolant lines that goto and fron the turbo to the block, that bolt on with banjos, replace these three lines with braided hoses.

it's not un-common for these to fracture, especially once they've been removed and re-installed as people can accidentally put stress on the joints by improperly tightening the banjo bolts.

replacing these with flexible braided lines removes this potential weakness,as well as making the job a little faster.

i made my life easier by using hose barbs on the water lines - not the turbo ends - and it was even easier. some kits still have banjo bolts, and they are a whore, especially the short one into the block.

yeah i did the same..i purchased a kit for $289 that replaces all the hoses to braided (oil feed, water feed and water return). it came with everything you needed such as copper washers, it has speedflo fittings on it too. not bad for the price i think. :)

i got it from one of the sponsors from nissansilvia.com, i think its rmsmotorsport or midnight motosport..something like that. it doesnt use the banjo bolts..it uses speedflo fittings all round. it comes with everything you need..just put it in and its done. lol i think you can see the braided line on my pic in the technical section.
