nice. yeah i started using it too back when it was formula R. I used the thicker grades on my older engine which was quite worn, and it copped a thrashing. No other oil I used could stand up to as much abuse, and i tried everything from motul to shell oils.

This stuff wins for me.

Also, anyone doing their own oil changes, the wynns supreme engine flush is a good idea to use before you do a change as it loosens any caked oil and deposits in your engine and turbo bearings. Excellent product that increases engine life and effectiveness of oil.

..tho if you want to get silly and 100 bucks plus US for a gallon isnt out of your budget then get some straight 30w oil from LE (http://www.le-inc.com/index.jsp). Apparently these guys supply most of the nascar teams their lubrcants.

the engine i was using it on had issues and was quite worn so it needed something that would remain stable when it was at operating temp and being thrashed. The other oils let the engine chatter quite a bit but formula R kept it relatively quiet even under high loads. It was a fairly thick oil tho, i used a 10w60... most of the other oils werent up to it (they were closer to a 50 weight)

Yeah, a big bit of carbon comes loose and gets stuck in a bearing.

I'd rather spend $10-15 on a cheap oil and run that through the engine for half an hour then change it.

These products act as a detergent and they break down deposits not just dislodge them.
Each to their own i guess, personally i think changing the oil twice is just wasting time, as the whole point of the engine flush it to disolve skum not to put another type of oil in to then mix in with whatever your using.

I've used oil flushes many times before, and have decided against them now. Running a cheap oil through the engine before you put your $70 oil in will pick up all the crap that would otherwise be picked up by the good oil straight away.

I've heard of a few bad experiences with oil flushes, while i personal haven't had any problems with them, i've decided not to use them.

If your serious about getting crap out of the engine, put a couple of hundred mils of diesel in the oil before you change it.
