 Post subject: what engine oil u use??

hows it goin i just bought a 180sx and im just wondering what brand and thickness of oil u guys using in ur ca18s???

mines down 144000kms?? any advice on what thinkness i should use?? i should know this i used to be a apprentice but iv never really delt with turbos??

suggestions please thanks

welcome to the forums..

10W40 or 5W40 is what i would use

i personally like the motul turbolight 4100 10W40

I use turbolight in my RB25 and my girlfriend's SR20.

do a search on oil,it comes up quite frequently.

As far as i knew, Motul TurboLite is not full synthetic. Could be wrong, but pretty certain its not. The really good motul stuff is hell expensive! I use Repsol Elite Full Synthetic.

its a semi, the full synth is 300v which is too expensive for mainly road use.

as long as service intervals are regular, there is no problem using a semi-synthetic, especially a good one like the motul.

thanks 4 all the info guys very very helpful....does any1 know where i can get motul oil in sydney?? like im in the livo area...i know that motuls top stuff cause my mate used to use it in his gtir n that thing was his baby treated it better than his girlfriend lol

The oil usually works better in the engine :wink:

I've used ELF many times, seems to be a good cheapish oil.

I use 5W-40 full synthetic, which ever brand i feel best at the time.

I was advised to use this viscoscity :-? because of the severe temperature changes we have -7 one day, 30 the next does this sound right?
