Hi, just need peoples advice on a safe boost setting.

my car: 180sx SR20. type X.

mods: T-back zuast, front mount cooler, air filer, BOV..

i just bought a dual stage boost controller.. i want to run 10psi daily.

and 14psi when i want to race etc, whats the max boost my turbo can take without blowing on me?

my engine is perfect cond, its still new. 40,000 on the clock and always serviced well.

id be more worried about the damage to the engine from detonation from turning up the boost

get it on a dyno, turn it up as far as you SAFELY can. they will be able to hear it ping WAY before you can inside the car.

do it properly, the last thing you want is to have to do a rebuild

Well i can re-iterate what Zei said. Take it to a dyno and get it turned up safely. That way you'll get your max setting without risking any damage to the engine.

i rekon 12-14psi is a good mark for your mods.

just pay to chuck it on the dyno and have it tested properly. whoknows your car might be weird and it will take 15psi!

have it done properly, DONT make any guesses because that guess might cost you several thousand in engine repairs

not unless you mod it with a daughterboard. then it will basically be a fully programmed ECU - mostly :P

but if its unmodded, all they will do is turn the boost up as far as possible without damaging the engine.

Take it to the dyno!!!

To 'safely' run at 14psi, I believe (not have too, but just more saftey shit) that you should atleast get S15 injectors, GTR pump and if you really wanna go cheap-ass... a SAFC or a chipped board.

Let me put it this way, its either a $150 dyno run or a $2000+ rebuild

My std injectors were runing 100% duty cycle at 14-15psi so you are definately starting to ask a lot from a stock engine. And just in case you missed it, do what Zei said and put it on a dyno.
