Hmmmmm, $5000 for engine work.

1. HKS second hand 25xx series turbo SR20 manifold bolt on ~$1500

2. A set of 550cc minimum injectors $600-800 (going from previous posts)

3. Intercooler with piping ~$1500

4. Z32 AFM ~$150 (shopping around)

5. Aftermarket management and a lot of tuning. ~? So many different approaches from daughterboard to full ecu swap. I would personally go a cheaper system and spend the money on the actual dyno time. This is very important.

You could probably sell that turbo of yours for at least $500 if it is in good nick (which it is judging by the power output).

Should be good for easily over 200kw@rw with reliability. :)

I have also recentlly been looking at the cost of modding the sr and with these mods u would be lucky to get 240kw atw, and then the sr stock internals are maxed out.
I am considering an rb25det conversion f/cut - 3.5k, parts 1k = 4.5k
and about 200-210 kw atw with just cooler and exhaust with a whole lot more pwr to be gained...i think besides the trouble of actually fitting the engine it is economically better to go for the rb25.

The RB25 conversion will wreck the cars natural and wondeful balance, more front heavy. Personally i'd stick with the SR.

Yes, true but coil overs and swaybars may help this a little bit. Do you know the weight differences between the 2?

Not off the top of my head but its a signifigant enough difference to stuff up the weight distribution and wreck the handling enough so you have to go spend a heap more to get it back to a reasonable level.

Another cost I didnt add into the modding of the sr is injectors aswell which including rail would be under $400

Just snag some S15 injectors they're good for about 200rwkw with a pump reg. and good tune.

Yeh true but then the motor is maxed out, and to get anymore pwr u need forgies, custom cam, headgasket etc.

How much power do you want?? Cams will see another 10-15rwkw depending on what turbo you choose. Also keeps the power on longer. Trust me 200rwkw is plenty.

haha no idea but its just if i do the rb25 conversion i get to learn heaps and also have the potential for more pwr if i want it which i dont know if i will/wont. The reason I think rb25 is good idea is because it is possibly cheaper when u consider cost of modding sr to same ppwr.

I see where you are coming from. You'll also learn heaps playing with an SR. My opinion is stay with the SR but its your car and your choice.

Why do you say this? As if the moment you pass 240kw @ wheels the engine will just disappear in a puff of smoke. With a nice mild sized and responsive turbo like the 25xx series, you could easily keep the cars revs down inside the factory range, and tuning would keep away detonation.

If people know what they are doing then it should last for ages.
