With a good tune and low boost levels (15-17psi) and sane revs (7000rpm) a half decent sr should be reliable to around 200-250rwkw IN THEORY but in theory communism works...

Its all well and good to have all the power in the world but arn't you guys forgetting the rest of the equation? The standard will clutch will get you to the end of the street and if you are driving hard, I wouldnt expect the gearbox do last much longer either - but you might but able to wing it as long as you dont use the car for racing etc...personally I'd go a twin plate and they aint cheap.

IMO what people forget when upgrading their rides is that Mr Nissan didnt intend for the kind of pwr RAW180 is looking at...i'm talking diffs, CV joints, gear syncros, the list goes on and on. So if you budget $5000 for power mods, it would be wise to keep some in reserve - other things WILL go wrong down the track.

Good luck, you should have a beast by the end!!

Is it just me or dont only front wheel drives have CV's?

I think the strength of nissan driveline components has been well proven in Japan. Plety of tough 10 and 11 second cars running nothing more than a good clutch.

I think the only problems you'll run into are synchro wear from very hard repeated shifting, but this won't smash the box, just make it a bit rougher.

As soon as you introduce slick tyres into the equation everything changes however, as the driveline has to take all of the abuse instead of just transferring it to wheelspin.

Components will wear out over time, not disintegrate instantly with extra power. (Of course there are always freakish exceptions in both ways).

There are two CV joints on each rear axle, one at the diff, and one at the hub, to allow suspension movement while still transferring power.
They don't get as much abuse as FWD ones because they don't have to work over such great angles, but they're pretty much the same setup.
