Are your front guards wider?

Ive got 18s on my 180.
225s on front, 235s on rear. Never had problems with scrubbing whatsoever.
Not sure of the profiles though sorry!! CBF going and having a look just now, too cold ;)

235/45/17 should fit the fronts without scrubbing.. its worked fine on my 180. I had 235/40/18 on my silvia and it only scrubbed because the offset wasnt spot on (and the car was stupidly low at the front lol)

People seem to forget that its the rolling diametre that will affect whether it scrubs or not, NOT the size of the rim.

a 215/65/16 will scrub more than a 235/40/18...

Size of the rim becomes an issue when you cant get a small enough profile tyre for it (eg 20s.. your rolling diametre even with the smallest profile tyre will still be greater than a correctly-sized 17)

Based on personal experience with S13s with stock guards (silvia and 180), I would recommend the following sizes for the widest tyre you can go without scrubbing;

For 17's
Front: 235/45/r17
Rear: 255/40/r17

For 18's
Front: 225/40/r18 or 235/35/r18
Rear: 255/35/r18

If your car is very low, it will pay to remove the plastic splash guards from inside the wheel arches. This gives alot more room to play with under there.
I currently have 235/45/r17 semi-slicks under my fronts (semis being much more bulbous and wider than a conventional road tyre), and the car is pretty low (top of the tyres are in line with the guards.. lol), and im not scrubbing unless I hit a massive ditch at great speed, while turning :lol:
