Has anyone tried a front bar swap to update the early (CA18DET) model front bar to the later model one? (SR 1992 model for instance)
Or are the quarter panels different as well??

Rick

Yes it is possible as far as i know its just a straight bolt on. I know one guy on here that has it on his car.

As far as I know, only the intake grills beside the numberplate are different.
My car's a '92 (SR20) but had the original bar replaced with a CA18 one due to damage. Panel wise it's the same, just has very slight differences in the grills, which can probably be swapped anyway.

Do not worry Dan-San... this thread was prior to interest in the swap :)

Ive done this.

Will fit straight up, BUT you will also need the extentions that fit on the front guards. Dont know exactly what they are called, but if you fit the SR bar without them, it will stick out roughly 4cm.

my friend picked up a 93 180sx with little front damage
all they could give him was a free ca18det front bar fit straight in, i guess that could work vice versa. His driving around with a ca18det front bar people thinking its a ca18 lol in fact its a sr20det ah well at least it was free :D
