i wanted to know what to use or where to get something to fill in the gap...

Well i have the same problem, as does Redline. I figured a black peice of perspex cut to shape would work out, just have to figure out how to attach it. I let you know. :wink:

i cut the face off the standard HU and put that in

looks kinda dodgy tho =P
need perspex
not white perspex tho!

I replaced my stereo 3 weeks ago with a JVC mp3 headunit. I mounted the HU in the top spot and went to Nissan and got a s14 pocket. It fits perfectly and looks like it has always been there without any gaps or cutting. I paid $25 for mine and all Nissan dealers can get one. If you want a professional look install spend the money and grab the pocket (plus you have a spot to put your remote, phone etc).

Yeh I got a pocket thing with a closing face off my mates dad (importer) it looks heaps better than gap...

I did the proper rice thing and left the big hole but partially filled it with electronic gadgets! (Fuel controller, Digital Speedo / timer) and a whole lot of cabling :P

yep fits perfect, just got one today from nissan dealer.
price is a it steep tho $26 buck.

i got a double tray pull out thing in mine .. top one is a pop out cup holder and bottom bit is a coin tray ...

perfect fit
