running 18psi doesn't give any clues. you can run 18psi on practically any turbo, but whether it can maintain that pressure to redline,or if it's healthy for the turbine and the rest of the engine depends totally on the complete setup.

you're going to have to get in under it with a dentist's mirror or similar and write down the numbers on the plate rivetted to the bearing housing. we may be able to give you an idea of what it is then.

look, you've got a good chance of getting help on this forum, but without seeing the car for ourselves,we have to go on what you tell us which so far has been fuck all that is good for working out what it is you want to find out.

now you have three choices. you can taKe it somewhere and get them to have a look underneath and give you the answer, you can ask someone on here nicely to meet you somewhere and look for you,or you can look for yourself, then report back with the details off of the turbo (as I suggested in my previous post) and one of us here can cross-reference that, and then tell you exactly what turbo your car is running.

can't do much better than that can we?

when you bought the car did he give you a list of stuff/mods on the car? post up all the info you got for the car when you bought it.

It's like saying ...I just bought a fridge and it keeps my beer cold..can you tell me what model it is..

Remember, many of us know our cars inside out. The fact that you can't be ass'ed to look at the turbo and supply some numbers, immediately makes you "not one of us".

Good Luck.

maybe you should ask the previous owner for a list of mods done to the car? that would help
cheers

Just to add to this:

My 180 with stock ECU was running 11psi with no boost controller.

When I replaced with PFC, my boost went back to 7psi, thats standard aint it?

The ECU may have been messed with or could be faulty.

Dose anyone know what the trimpot or variable resistor is on the side of S13 Redtop ecu?

After installing an Apexi Power air intake, a big trust front mount intercooler and HKS ssqv "compressor bypass valve" (lol - and realising that the blitz dual turbo timer actually functions as a boost guage as well) my car was OVERBOOSTING like crazy! Instead of the standard 7psi it was boosting up to 21 psi and it's only after ripping and VT commodore SS that I shook my head and though "hey..." and checked the peak function of the boost guage, which to my horror read 1.52 bars!! (22psi or thereabouts as 1bar = 14.7psi).

I couldn't rev it past 3000 or put my foot down even halfway as the tremendous boost spooled up so rapidly, probably damaging my engine (leaning out) and turbo (ceramic t25 still). My mechanic has since told me that a solenoid is missing, and bypassed it altogether so i can now rev safely to 5000 with a max of 7psi (.50 bar), but a solenoid kit he's installing on friday should solve this.

Add ur mod list, and get ur car dyno tuned if necessary. ONLY take ur car to experts that u trust (ie, ppl who are renowned for working on Nissan Turbos, NOTHING LESS). You don't buy cars like this and neglect them, okay? Be nice to ur baby!
