I've always wondered about those.Does it look like air will even flow towards your intake?

Did you get an el cheapo one? Maybe that's why it leaked.

ahahaha.... it was an OBX one....
air would be able to reach your intake if it wasnt for that rubber bit that is screwed onto the bonnet....

but i have it mainly for rice factor...

can either exted the cover from underneath to the water/rain will not get onto the light bulb
or put a piece of plastic on to of where the light bulb is from direct water/rain coming in, paint it black so it can not be seen

i was going to buy or make one of these myself but seeming as I'll be driving the car in ireland mostly the water/rain issue might make me think again! what about a celica gtfour style vent just behind the light on the bonnet? Not the full vent but just the little pipe kinda piece.

its good to see memebers from across the globe!!!! :D welcome first and foremost...

i believe that some carbon fibre bonnets come with the vent you described, so i dont think it would be too much of a problem

Only problem with bonnet vents is the ammount of water that gets spread around your engine bay in the rain, could be enough to corode conections and cause grief in the long run.
