Ive got an idea for it though - instead of plumbing it back into the intake; send it inside the cabin, into your passengers face!!

That ARC bov has the worst friggin noise ever! It dead set sounds like a cow dieing or something. Its terrible. |

ive got the standard sr plum back on my onevia, and i get a good noise when it blows off. i had a pod filter half on at the time. How can you say the standard BOV doesnt make any noise? |

Um because it doesn't The stock BOV on an SR is a plumb back so it vents EVERYTHING back into the intake so its silent full stop end of story. Either your BOV has been modified the atmosphere vent as some people do, or its mild flutter you are hearing. Of the billions of SR cars ive driven with stock BOV's none have had ANY noise. |

hmm weird my stock BOV made a noise on my S15 so does my mates stock BOV on his 180 obviously this was with a pod filter. even with the stock intake on mine, i heard it sometimes. very muffled tho |

With a pod you may here it a bit cause the plumb back vent is near the filter, With a stock air box I have never heard one, which is why I said he may be hearing slight flutter of some sort. The stock plumb back won't go PSSSSSSSHT like an atom one will unless its been modded. |

i feel you, but when pressured air is being released from a plenum, naturally your going to get some kind of noise. Doesnt matter wheather its on a car, or the wheels on your bicycle |

The air isn't from the plenum the throttle is shut so it can't get back out. The air is from the piping but I know what you are saying, the noise would have been more of a whoshhh if you had a pod fitted. |

A plenum is a container of air that has a greater pressure than that of its surroundings, dont mean the actual manifold. |

Just one question - I was led the believe that the 'fluttering' noise ur all talking about is caused by ur BOV not venting enough (whether plumb-back or atmosphericly venting) and the vacuum conditions (caused by sharp throttle lift-off - ie during gear changes) resulting in the air being sucked back through your turbine wheel in the wrong direction. Moreover, I heard this can severely damage your turbo. I have a HKS SSQV (super sequential bov) and it sounds nice, but is DAMN loud when making quick gear changes on boost. Even when soft it's clearly audible, and if I see cops I shit my pants, drive annoyingly slow and am so gentle with the throttle you'd think i was painting with my foot! The only reason I had it fitted is that the panel beater fixing my car forgot to install my factory/stock plumb-back BOV and after taking my car to a turbo specialist straight after (just in case) realised the oversight (although I hafta admit the fluttering sound turned me on), called and found out my stock BOV had been shown the wastebin, and bought the only one he was able to fit at the time so I could drive home that night w/o blowing my turbo. But that's just the kinda thing I do after being w/o my car for 2mths cos some stupid panel beater likes to sit on his hands all day while I am rideless... |

mate i got a normal vent to air turbosmart item on my ca it flutters really low then goes woosh at high rpm but i must say, has any1 told u that the fluttering is actually compressor surge that is harmful to that oh so presious turbo? the reasoning behind the fluttering is the the bov is to tight to open the the pressure has to go back through the turbo, which in tym breaks shit. so if u want da flutter ull pay in da long term |
