What are your thoughts on supercharging a CA18DET. is it possible, how much would it cost etc...... |

possible yes, would cost at least as much as upgrading the turbo, and you'd need N/A style extractors to replace the turbo manifold, somewhere to mount the supercharger, different piping, belts, etc.. I'll know a lot more as soon as I start doing it to my SR20 (as of a couple of weeks' time) Superchargers can be had for under $500 for small ones, but if you're trying to get more than stock turbo power you'll need a 2L toyota one at least, or a 2.3L mazda one, both of which are pretty hard to find and expensive, whereas a T25G or even a T28 is pretty cheap, and a good upgrade for a CA18DET... |

heh well what about twin chargers for the sr20 . That way u have low down power and up high power . Would n/a extractors still be needed? I dont think so but maybe? heh it would be cool if someone did it though, they could have a bov with a super charger and still have the whining super charger sound |

anyone looked at how much room there is for superchargers?? My supercharger is tiny, and without losing the air con it's going to be one hell of a battle to install! two would be a lot worse! Twin turbos was an idea I was playing with, since T25Gs are so easy and cheap to get, but you'd need a custom manifold, twin dump pipes, and a lot of intake plumbing - also preferably an electronic wastegate controller. Then there's the issue of oil supply, which is bad enough for one turbo on an N/A engine.. |

ahh, so you can get the worst of both worlds! :> There was a Japan only Nissan with both. it ran the supercharger up to 4000rpm, then once the turbo spooled up it bybassed the supercharger.. |

It was a Micra twin charge, toyota did it aswell and some brands offer kits, still i would rather stick with one turbo. |

yeah they look cool, and it sounds like a good idea, but its fucken pointless, just wind up your boost put a front mount on and change your turbo, and you will probably only spend half the money anyway |
