I was playing with my BOV settings and set it to be a little more sensitive than before, so it opens quicker. Only a little.

I've found now that when taking off i cant get boost in 1st.

I have 2 guages. Boost and vaccum.
My vaccum doesnt drop to 0 when pushing it on 1st.
Thats why no boost.

How can there be more vaccum. :(

2nd seems to get up there, same as 3rd and 4th.
Any clues.

Id suggest to go and tighten your BOV back up to its previous state.. You dont make much boost in 1st so if its leaking there goes your boost. Your BOV will make a sharper note when its tighter anyway...

I did clean the BOV with throttlebody spray. Would this have stuffed up something.

When I tighten my BOV there is no more psshhhhh.
As if the BOV is not even opening.

When I loosen it to the point where the BOV starts to open again then i don't get boost in 1st (only about .3max) and in 2nd would go to a little over .5 and drop to .3-.4 towards the high end of the revs.

I used to get .5-.6 reading 1st right to 5th right up tot he higher revs. Consistant.

Any Ideas.

Thanks dudes.

sounds like the vacuum line to the BOV is loose / cracked / leaking somehow.

That or the bov is actually leaking vacuum past the piston so it doesn't open unless it's way too loose.

If the BOV comes apart totally you may want to put a bit of engine oil on the piston inside so it gets a good seal to the casing.

took my BOV completely off.
So i've just got a straight piping accross.

Same thing.

1st gear boost up to .4 then considerably drop to .3-.25 after about 4500rpm

2nd the same.
3rd kinda holds the .5 boost. then 4th and 5th - the same as third.

Though after a while of driving around boosting the max boost my car will hold is .4 which is only a little over 5psi.

The stock boost is about 7psi isn't it. And I've got 3" CAT Back.

Any clues.

thanks ppl

what did you do with the vacuum line to the BOV?

is it tee'd into the line to the factory boost control solenoid?

maybe the cable to the solenoid has come loose, which would (if it then stays closed) cause a very low boost condition...

so much for boosting problems. :o

I just had a run with a late model Porche Boxter and the two cars are fairly even.
The boxter had a slight jump in first but the rest up to about 120 is about the same.
We backed of after mid third gear as we were just on suburban streets.

I was shocked to keep up with the cars. :D

Looks like the car is getting used to it. DUMB arse comment. But each time I changed something and didn't work, I would change it to with BOV or without, sensitive and hard setting. I've left the BOV for a few days and with the setting to be sensitive. Initially it was idling funny and not holding boost. A few days later. BOOST is normal on 7-9psi and would hold it in every gear.

Wierd shit.

Now my car is running pretty good, and back to the neck snapping feeling. We'll compared to what I was driving before anyway.

Thanks for all the feedback fellows. :D

good to hear :)

The ECU does self tune, and any mods do take a bit of time to sort themselves out... Maybe that's all it was...
