I've always been a VTEC person till a couple of days ago when I picked up my 1995 180sx SR20DET. :D

With VTEC the car starts to sing @ 5500 right up to 8200.
With the 180sx it starts to pick up from 3000+ to about 5500

Seems like there is no point in pushing further as the power seems flat. :(
the reading on my boost guage stops at about .45 Cant get any more than this. Does that sound about right ?

Mods on the car are 3"CatBack and a BOV. How much increase would these mods do.

It just feels like the car is not running hard enough or something is stoping it from running harder. Any Ideas.

When do you guys shift with your 180s ???? :x

I think it could be because you don't have a full turbo back exhaust so your turbo runs out of puff at high rpm. I'm not entirely sure but I know my car drops power at high rpm (like the car is still revving but not making anymore power). I just assumed it's the way the car worked (designed for midrange power not top end). I could be wrong though.
btw, my car has a 3in turbo back exhaust w/ hi flow cat. (It still has the original cast iron pipe off the turbo though, maybe this could be the problem? too restrictive?)

Your BOV will do nothing for performance, it just helps prolong the life of you turbo and sounds cool too.
