if there are no air leaks it's most likely ignition related.
Might just need new spark plugs (NGK BKR6E11s are easy to get, and cheap - you just need to gap them down to .8-.9mm)

If it has an aftermarket blow off valve check that the vacuum line is connected and that there are no leaks between the BOV and the intake manifold in the vacuum lines.

Or you could just buy BKR6E's which are already gapped to 0.9mm.

it's extremely rare for those to be in stock anywhere though, so you end up having to order them in. Most engines run 1.1mm gap.

Really? wow. I guess the two boxes I bought off the shelf a couple of months ago from precision auto spares in bondi must have been really rare then.

ordering in for most auto shops means a couple of hours to a day or two at the worst. it's not like it's some obscure plug for a lawnmower or something...

good buy!

so, if the shop stocks BKR6E9s, get those - otherwise it's easy to gap down the 11s, which in my experience have been a lot easier to buy on the spot.

I had a steel ruler which worked perfectly as a gap gauge :)

CJ8s for almost all lawnmowers are available at every servo, supermarket, and hardware shop :P
