I'm looking to sell my silvia. It's a 1992 S13 sr20 (non-turbo) but i want to know how much i should be aiming for. It's got 187000k's on the clock and is automatic.

I am not selling it on this website, nor will i respond to PM's about selling the car. All i want to know is how much they usually go for in the age and condition its in so I can budget how much money I will have for my new car.

What factors do i need to consider when pricing the car?
What improvements will add value?
What things could I do to increase my chances for a sale?

The best bet is to check out the various online sites like car sales and the like and see what comparable cars are being advertised for.

Adding parts to the car to help sell it is often false economy as mods are not worth what you pay for them as part of the sale price. All I'd do in that area is tidy things up to make the car look a bit more presentable.
Chuck in some floor mats if it doesn't have any, give it a good detail and such.

lastly, advertise the car as widely as possible and be flexible with meeting people so that they can view it.

I sold a fairly rough S13 SR20DE auto with over 200,000km on the clock for close to $5500. It did, however, have a nice set of Buddy Club rims (worth ~$1000) which I didn't want to sell with the car but the buyer really wanted them.

I also sold my first S13, a Onevia, for $9500 after I had it resprayed. It also had an S14 SR20DE swap.

I guess my point is that there are a lot of P-platers who will pay decent money for S13s, just make sure yours is looking nice and stand firm on your price. Every time I have sold a car (but it seems to be worse with modified cars) the worst lowballers in the country seem to come out of the woodwork. I had this one group of fuckwits come and inspect my car, spent 45 minutes speaking in a different language amongst themselves, and then offered half what I was asking...along with the obligatory "I WILL PAY CASH BRO". :x

I have been doing some investigating on this matter myself as i was looking to sell my s13 , for non turbo s13 around the 5 grand mark seems to be the average , i doubt you would get over 5 but you may get lucky .

I am seeing S14s getting down around the 10-12 K mark now so it's hard to see how a nothing-special S13 would go any higherr than 4-5 K.

I'm also trying to sell my S13 at the moment, as you've probably seen in the for sale section.

My car is by no means the prettiest, but it's Sr20det, has a decent number of "stage one" mods, has been perfectly reliable, and is roadworthy/rego'd, all that. I thought my price (7.5K) was reasonable, and others have even said it's "cheap", but i'm getting very little interest at this stage.

Does anyone think i'm being unrealistic with the price? Is this just a dud time of the year to try and sell a car? Feel free to be honest...

Shit time to sell. Good time to buy.

And yeah, your car is pretty cheap in my opinion.

As a general rule you don't want to sell around christmas. No one has any money.

Though the market for silvias is pretty dead, they are just so cheap atm.

As a buyer i can only say YAAAAY!

My stepfather had a car for sale for months with no interest, came christmas time he put a sign saying "christmas special", added $1000 to the price and it sold in days. Not nice really, but funny ;)

I did something similar a while back at work. I had two boxes of a product, each from a different manufacturer. one cost $27 a box,and the other cost $35. I put a special tag on,and dropped the price of the more expensive one by 50cents,and it went the next day. the cheaper one sat there for several more weeks.
it's all perception... 'Wow,I'm getting a deal,I'll take that one!!!'
