Hi crew

I am pretty new on this forum, but thought I would say hi. I have bought my first Silvia :D

Looking at coming out and having a play at skidpan and tracks when I get time to. Usually I am instructing at most of the days, as that is what I do for a job. I am also a full time driver in the Toyota Hilux Heroes team.

I have been driving plenty of other peoples, or car manufactures cars over the years in motorsport, superlap and other events. I thought that this is a good way to come and have some fun away from some of the serious stuff that I do.

I already know quite a few of the crew on here, and look forward to catching up with the rest of you :D

The car is an X Type 180SX with an SR20T powerplant. Will be looking for plenty of advice at making the car steer, stop and go on a budget :D

Nice to see you on here John Boston. I remember getting some driving tips from you last year at the Circuit Club Oran Park GP track day in my S15 Silvia.

Welcome John, we've arrived at the right place for all your Silvia/180SX info, goodluck with the buildup.

We've met on occasion at a couple of Autosport days, you gave some pointers/passengered to Rhianna in the dark green S14 at an Oran Park skidpan. Welcome and cheers again, Grant.

excellent choice in fun car :)

We can't give you the usual advice of improving the driver before worrying about the car though :P

Welcome Bozman and glad you didn't go the skyline boat.
I can see some lap times and ego's being broken for a relative std s chasis car.

Anybody who's ego gets broken by being beaten by a driver like Bozzo has serious issues (regardless of what he is driving)

John its Iain with the Blue S13 Silvia from your Driver Training Day in May 09 :)

We were talkin alot about you getting one for track work... and look whats happened :) :) I actually have a vid when i forgot to turn off my camera of you sticking your head around my car LOL

Good choice mate!!!!! You will love it! Now let us know when the shake down sessions are so we can come bug you for thoughts / setups !!!

You will get plenty of advise from the pro's out there, as we discussed my car is on a very tight budget with very minimal mods listed below.... good little package, capable of decent times, perhaps a good starting platform for a budget setup!?

Step 1 cams
Z32
Pod
FMIC
Oil Cooler
PFC
Profec B II
Turbo back exhaust
Nismo 550cc

Hi Ando and the rest of the crew :D

Thanks for the welcome guys, really appreciated. Looking forward to having a play with this thing to see what it is capable of. At least I can now drive my own Superlap car as well lol

Very keen on the mods list that is needed to make this thing go faster. Already organising more suspension mods.....keen on what people think is the best value for money brake mods. Yes it still has 4 stud atm

Have been reading through threads full of good info. There are quite a few different types of brake conversions.

Already looking at how much weight I can get out of this thing :P

Keen to get it out as it is and see what sort of lap time it will do, and then watch how the mods will change the times.

The best value brake upgrade in my opinion is a set of r33 4 pots on the front with some decent pads. redrill the rotors to suit 4 stud or get some new blanks and have them drilled and mod the banjos/remove the olive from the caliper and they bolt on.

I like project mu HC+ pads which i ran in the skyline. A few others here run them as well. The NA nugget has SBS carbon ceramics as it doesn't need the higher temp rating as the brakes don't do as much work.
