Hey all, thought id let you know ill be lurking around here from now on! Im from the Hornsby area, and am an apprentice mechanic. I actually have worked on one of the members cars here. FLY510 i think is the members name? S14 silvia? anyways...

I recently sold my nissan Exa (dont laugh...) and decided the next car for me would be a S13. Unfortunately due to P plate laws i had to find myself a non turbo one.. There was a pretty damn neat looking white S13 for sale at the time i was selling my Exa, but unfortunately it sold just before i sold my exa. Im on about the white S13 that Locky owned.

Following that, there were just a bunch of shitbox non turbo silvias with CA18 motors in them, and i wanted a SR this time around. I ended up spotting a S13 on boostcruising, that i knew would need some work, but looked like a good base.

Easter long weekend i trecked it up to the sunshine coast and bought this:

as i said, it needed some work. It definately used to be a DE+T, as it was complete with a cut out front radiator support, 3in exhaust, turbo manifold, and FMIC piping for the pod filter in the frontbar.

exhaust, intake and wheels were changed fast...

however, its specs as of now:

1991 S13 silvia
climate control, elec windows, stock interior..
vertex bodykit & green w/ gold flake paint.
lowered on king springs and pedders struts
(F) 18x7.5in (R) 18x9.5in rims
2.25in exhaust, hi flow cat, supercat muffler
ebay turbo manifold (wtf....)
polished alloy intake
twin 12in thermofans
catch can
davies craig thermofan temp switch

this is how she sits now:

Anyways, criticism is welcome, and hope im welcomed here!

James.

have to agree with that. unfortunately, the 18s were all i could really find for the money i was willing to spend. had alot of other issues to fork out the dosh over before i get myself some decent wheels. PLUS, since this is my 1st DECENT rwd car, i didnt want to go forking out for some really schmick wheels, incase they find their way towards a gutter, if you get what i mean...

wow that is nice!!

congrats on the car and welcome!

dont worry about the non-turbo engine. they still move well and its good to learn on an NA car.

ZEi250t, thanks for the comments bud.

Locky, if you didnt sell it before i sold my exa, your old S13 would be in my driveway, and im sure id be alot happier :P

the wheels ill stick with for a while like i said, but yeah, grill and coilovers are an absolute must!

it copped a bit of abuse this weekend, and im not sure about the strength of this motor. i think its time to apply for a turbo exemption. being a mechanic apprentice is a big plus for me to get it, however 3 license losses is a bit of a negative. it needs a new motor, so a boosted motor might be the way to go.

cheers people.

pl35me, im looking into the turbo exemption at the moment. might be pushing shit uphill so to speak with it though. Other option if my motor is cacti (unsure what sort of knock i have at the moment... pretty sure its piston slap..) is to slap a S14 SR20DE in. Was curious if there was anything specific i would need to know about this swap? i know the loom, ecu, and afm need to be changed, however, does the S14 engine loom connect to tje dash/sensors/etc on the S13?

Mr Bean, had the grill out for a bit, didnt mind the look of it aye, other than at the time i had a hideous pod filter behind it with offcut FMIC peices.. looked too bodgy. might pull it out again..

Michael! yeah mate, finally sold it. was a bit of a shame, as i ended up putting some bullshit $ into it. just wish i ran her after the microtech tune, and saw what numbers that DE could punch out. You were smart bailing out all that time ago..

hokkaido, it was the 1st thing on the to do list.. lol.
