personal opionion... go adm for insurance, relyability and quality reasons..

that way there lesser of a chance of sum happy lil azn man of pulling off and replacing ur cluster with a lo kms one.. changinr ur seats, door trims, steeringwheel frame and selling u a poor quality, already lived its life car :)

like any other car the last modle made is what the manufactuers see as the best.. n if they think its the best?? means its the most relyable and best peformer out of the lot..

go for sumthing with eitha light or no mods.. fmic and exhaust n them bits and pieces are pretty regular.. if there nice branded products and things u think ull keep and not replace in future then why not get them.. most people who heavyly modify there car remove all the parts n sell them b4 sale..

kinda makes ur wonder when u go look at a car that belonges to sum1 who looks, and talks like a motor head, open the engine bay to see small movements on screws, heat wraping over a few engine aby components.. n yet the owner advies u the cars never been moded!!

and yeah.. just make sure to have the car checked out b4 choosing one.. if u dont kno what to look for ruself bring sum1 who does..

thats my 2 cents anyway :) hope it helps..

So,those happy little asian men work in local import car yards huh? as most of the gear gets swapped and chopped here by the dealers.

when cars are prepped before they go onto the yards, stuff gets swapped, good gear gets stripped out to go to the wrecking yard the dealer also owns, and car4s get bits from other cars swapped in to up their value and make them more saleable. that's business.

as for how to buy:
*in short, they're all pretty much the same. I recommend a JDM model,as you get the best value for the price equipment-wise. locally delivered cars are thrashed just as much as japanese market ones, and anyone who says different is lying. they have turbos for a reason. they get driven, not commuted.

*get a mechanic to check it over, and test drive it before you buy.

*be realistic. don't expect a 6-9yr old car not to have a single blemish.

I own an imported Spec R however i recommend a Spec S with log books.

All importers are dirty and swap parts especially the clusters

everyone has the capacity to be dodgy. race has nothing to do with that.

Agreed, get your mechanic (or ask for an import mechanic's details) to check over the car before purchasing.

Go Jap spec (as per Justin's comments) as there is more factory options - the rear wiper is a must, Climate control isn't on ADM's, xenon lights aren't on ADM, etc.

Buy privately as i saw Jap Specs for $30K at dealers...so you are talking 25-27K if you bargain them down.

Paid $21.5K for a clean white spec aero this month privately with 41,000kms. 8)

Amen to that!!..

I'd rather buy a car from an asian bloke that has only turned the clock back a few km's, then get a cut and shut car from a lebo..

ps. listen for VCT rattle.

i apoligise as well... i was saying it as a sarcastic kind of joke...
not trying to say anyone of an azn back ground is more shifty than any1 else..

i kno people who own car yards on parramatta road who use crayons to fill deep scratches lmaoo, and at the same time the people at that mercedes dealership in miranda/sylvania area didnt put enough oil my my dads merc when he servicded it a few days ago???

nothing to do with nationality... just a cirtain handful of people..

While we are on this topic, I am in the process of selling my TT supra and looking for an s15.

Does anybody know any good mobile inspection services to use?

I've found:
http://www.stateroads.com.au/
http://www.mrtune.com.au/vehicle-inspections.asp

Would you guys think that such services are satisfactory? They seem quite thorough.
