Im going to be swapping my original shifter with a friends short shift kit on sunday.

I have seen step by step pics on how to do it...
Just wondering if im going to be running into some probs or if im going to need any special tools besides:
phillipshead
side cutters
circlip pliers

anyone else done it before? were there any probs? how long does it take?

thanks people!

yes ive done it twice.

the hardest part was the circlips. notice the plural, the first one is easy, the 2nd one is pretty hard! well, it was for me one one of the gearboxes, the other wasnt too bad. took me around 20 mins or something. but then i replaced it with a Cs short shift kit :) getting the bush in was worse than getting the circlip out :P

yeh from the pics i saw the guy had snapped one of the circlips.

I'm unsure of the brand of the short shift kit in my friends car...hoping its a C's but wont know till i take it out. Hope it all goes well.

Just another question for you Zie...
How long was your set of circlip pliers? did you just use standard looking ones or did you use one that is L shaped
kinda looks like this --> ___i on the end

ahh i bought a cheapie set that hd a 90degree bend, a 45degree bend, a straight, and a straight reverse. so when you closed the handles, the end opened instead of closing. but i used the 45deg to get it out. was a bit of a bitch on one of them. but i get it in the end!
