put a standard one on, from the cat back...or even from the turbo back.
They have a look under and draw up (take notes in a book) what you have - like say cat, pipe, resonator, pipe, muffler, outlet - single or twin...and then they do a noise emission test to see if it falls under the legal limit.
Well that's what they did last time I got defected for my exhaust.

Good luck man, Christian.

if you have to go for emissions, it might be a little difficult if you got aftermarket ECU, or bigger cams. If it is just a DB test it wont be to difficult to pass, either way put stock box and zaust back on and if it for emmisions and you have an after market ECU you will more then likely have to get it de tuned

It should depend on what the letter says they are testing for.

Worst case scenario is- if you dont pass- you they give you 14days (approx) to get it re done, but each time you must pay about $120(cant rec all exact figure) pass or not.
You just keep doing that until you pass. They are well aware you will go put the zorst/filter back on. Just revenue raising at another angle.

Someone I knew had a Chopper and that thing will out bell 1000 people on a roller coaster ride. He had to just keep on going back to the EPA until he cleared it.
