hi,

i was just wondering how much boost is too much for a stock bottom end on an S15. i got my car tunned at unigroup but at that time it was peaking at 20psi then tappered down to 18psi. But now with the cold weather on teh highest setting it will hit 22psi and pretty much hold it till red line.

what would be the most boost you would put through your Sr with a stock bottom end?

how many kms has the motor done? what is the service history like? how do you drive/drift/track etc? What other supporting mods do you have? what fuel do you use?

they all have a bearing on how much boost you can safely run...

the engine has 100k on it, always services with sythetic oil with nissan oil filter every 5000k, has all supporting mods, although the injectors need upgrading as they are hitting about 94% (nismo 555cc) gt2871R + cams.

always use 98 octane usually mobil or BP.

if you drive it hard and are constantly bouncing off the rev-limiter, i'd say that you're at the maximum you'd wanna run...

personally, i wouldnt run more than around 18psi on the stock bottom end, but thats just me

yeah i am thinking its a little to high. but im never on the limter, its not driven on teh track or anything like that on a regular basis. its mian purpose is street.

so a std S15 head gasket will take the punishment of 20-22psi?

I'd peg it at 20, not because it's a nice number but because you know that it's safe at that level, not pinging, not floating valves etc etc.

You don't know what it's doing at 22psi so you don't want to run it there until you dyno it to make sure the valves aren't floating, it's not pinging or running lean.

sorry to hijack your thread...
just wanted to know what kind of power your car is making and where.
The mods you have are the ones i would like to put in my car.

it was tunned @ 18psi and it made 225kw@rw. Not a bad turbo quite responsive and pulls hard right through till redline. I went in an SR with a 3071 the other day though and it kinda makes me want to change to one of those that is an awsome turbo.
