Hi guys i was after a little help b4 i had to go see an Auto electrition.
i put a set of 19inch on my s15 to see how it looked. i went for a little drive to see how they felt when strangly my speedo dies and droped off to Zero ! mind u i was proberbly doing around 80km/h. so i hit the blinker to signal left to pull over but no blinkers.
i found i had blown window and signal fuzes, why because the front driver side tyre had rubbed through three wires two were totaly severed in the harnes up in the wheel well and they must have arked.
fixed them all up every thing seemed to be fixed untill i exceded 100km/h, all is fine till this point but once u push the needle past 100 for evry km/h u do the needle begins to run BACKWARDS ! so 110km/h is 90 ahd 120km/h is 80 and so on and so forth.
i have swaped out the cluster for a new one and same deal, so any ideas on wat it could be?

I don't know if this would work but try resetting the ECU.

Disconnect the battery from the car and hold your foot on the brake pedal to drain the remaining charge in the car's electrical system.

If anyone could confirm this but try leaving the car disconnected for 30mins to let the ECU reset itself.

I'd say there's your problem. repair your loom and all your other issues should be solved. 19" wheel usage aside.

resetting the ecu isn't going to help.

there is a speedo sensor, down on the gearbox. you'll need to be able to read pulses to be able to check it though. it will generally work,or not at all,it won't fail intermittently.

I'd be leaning towards a problem in the cluster first.

on the S15 the speedo gets its signal from the ABS computer.
Chances are an ABS sensor cable has rubbed through.

On the S13 and 14 the speedo sensor is in the gearbox.

How to check the S15 Silvia Dash cluster

Instructions below

HOW TO ACTIVATE DASH CLUSTER DIAGNOSIS MODE

1. Turn ignition switch to ON (reds) and change odo/trip meter to “TRIP A” or “TRIP B”.
2. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
3. Turn ignition switch to ON while depressing the odo/trip meter switch.
4. Confirm that trip meter indicates “0000.0”.
5. Push odo/trip meter switch more than three times within 5 seconds.
6. All odo/trip meter display segments should now be turned on.

At this point, the dash cluster is now in diagnosis mode.

7. Push and hold odo/trip meter switch. Indication of each meter/gauge should be as follows: -
Speedometer displays – 45Km/h
Tachometer displays – 1750rpm
Fuel Gauge displays – Half Tank
Temperature gauge - Qtr Temp
While pushing odo/trip meter switch if you do not get the above results the dash cluster unit is internally malfunctioning.

NOTE: Wait. It takes a few seconds for indication of fuel gauge and water temperature gauge to become stable.

Important NOTE: The vehicle speed pulse (VSS) used by the dash cluster is produced by the ABS control module, if the fault lies with this module you are best advised to seek professional help as faults with this system can/will impact on braking performance and safety of the vehicle.
