Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can help me.
I want to get a RB25 installed into my S13 but one of my friends told me to get a RB30 with the RB25 head. Where did the RB30 come from? I never heard of the RB30 before and does it have more power?

RB30 comes from the locally delivered R30 and R31 skylines, and the 3.0L VL commodore. Is a single OH cam engine, which is why people like fitting the double OH cam RB25 head. Block is meant to be pretty much indestructible, I have heard, but is getting rather old now.

Mate thats gonna be one hell of a squeeze into an S13's engine bay and it will mess up the weigth distribution in the car. If u really want the engine buy a VL turbo or a Zed car and do the transplant into that. The RB30 is a higher engine and will need mods to the bonnet aswell. The concept of the RB25 heads onto an RB30 is the way to go on the path to power from them though. The money u spend on the transplant you'd be better off working whichever engine u already have. Overall not really worth it but it has been done.

So its not good to do the conversion?
I have a CA18DE thats why I was thinking about it since it doesn't have much power in it I think.
What mods can I do with the CA18 if I stay with this engine? like turbos?

Mate,I think you will get a lot of ppl here dispute that a CA18DE does not have much power....
Just because it has a low capacity than the 2L does not mean it has less power or potential...

You have 2 options transplant a SR20 or CA18 turbo into it and do a host of upgrades, or sell it and buy a turbo model. If u did, and i suggest u dont, do the RB30 swap you'd need new brakes, diff etc way too much hassle. If it was me i'd sell and buy a turbo car

Yeah man a stockie can run upto 15psi and beyond with the right set-up. Buy a turbo car, you'll be happy for a few months then when u have saved money upgrade stuff. Come to a cruise and i will show u what some of us have done.

Less than $4k for the engine and motor and probably will still easily come under with the brakes

Black Top SR20DET Transplant Kit (motor, box ecu etc)

You will find it will be cheaper to go and buy a motor with a turbo already on it then do a retro fit on your current motor.
Me thinks......
