the wheel nuts are different to standard tho. they screw about 4cm's onto the stud, they wont come off but it's still dodgy. im going to get it repaired as soon as i have money, but ive got rego comming up and i still owe my mechanic 900 bucks. i will get it done though

and yes it does cause im still listed as a driver of the car regardless. its stated, for example, driving a family car and an acco happens. well thats what dad found in the loophole anyway.. and i dont need another family memeber in the car for that to happen. I'll ask him about it in depth when i see him next

I dont know much about insurance or law, so thats why I'm asking, but as far as I am aware your comprehensive insurance policy covers property damage and damage to your car but not injuries to people.

However, what Im asking is, could 3rd party insurance (green slip) still be void as that insurer would claim that you should not have been driving the car?

dont worry im a bit blank about it all too! my parents did all the insurance / compensation on the car..i just paid lol

I'm not too sure about the 3rd party to be honest.. ill deffinately check that up though, i don't see father-dear till fathers day. but ill remember to ask, as its my arse at stake otherwise LOL

i always thought if in the event of an accident if your car is inspected and found to be unroadworthy at the time of the accident then you'd foot the bill, not the insurance company (get wiped)

and if anyone was injured you'd be the one sued or the insurance company would pay the costs but then take you to court for the money

either way its financially scary

i didnt even realise they were cut until not too long ago you all know that. i need my car to get too and from work, other than that i dont drive it on weekends or at night. im doing the best i can. i got studs and they dont fit, im trying.

are the spot welded or welded all the way around? if its spot welded you should be able to grind it of easy as.

its stupidly welded all the way around so ill definitely need the new hub things too. the rears are fine, no idea why both front ends are like this, but shit happens!

I can tell you exactly why.
the previous owner wanted fully hektik yuleh big bling rims,but couldn't get them in a decent offset that would clear the brakes,so he's had long studs welded in (as they didn't fit the hubs properly and they had to go on the car right then and there because the customer is waiting),and used big slip on spacers to push the rims out far enough to clear the std callipers. the nuts they had didn't fit the studs properly either,so they hacked them to suit,and covered it up with the nuts. once it's all bolted up,who knows any better?

score one more for the reputation of the temple of chrome.

hey,at least they didn't go the die grinder to the wheels spokes trick like I've seen before.. that was dodgy.

Man that sounds pretty dodgy and that wouldn't be acceptable at all from a safety point of view.

Better off saving the cash and getting decent wheels that actually suit & fit the car properly.

Bree should post up pics of the new wheels, after 11 or 12 pages of junk I think we all deserve to see the finished product

I don't know,but if you'd seen the set in question you'd have had your jaw sitting in the floor in disbelief.

quite a few years ago now a fully hektik turned up to a drive we had organised in a black S15 with 19" chrome 5 spokes on it. the rears had about 4deg. of neg. camber to fit uner the std guards,and the fronts were probably sitting at around 2deg. neg. and both ends were at best 2 1/2" off the tar. hektik.

whilst walking around chatting and checking out cars prior to the drive I walked by the S15 (parked in true pornstar tradition on an angle across a driveway and the footpath when the rest of us had parked in marked out spots in an open carpark or on the side of the road) I had a good look at the front wheels and noticed that the spokes had been ground down on their inside faces to clear the brake callipers.
crouching down to look closely,I found that the full width of the calliper's pots,and about half of their depth had been roughly ground away from the wheel spokes with a die grinder.
the owner was called over,and was told that he and his car were not welcome to join us on our drive,and that he should fix his clearly defective v ehicle before he killed himself or anyone else. he wasn't very happy with that.

Justin, what you said about my wheels is right! except they wern't bling bling, just 19" rims, which are now on the boys car. and he wants to now sell them, ha! :


Anyway, after all these pages of crap i will post it up..these wheels are costing a few hundred extra as im getting them made to fit correctly to the s15. im still worried when i get there tomorrow they will say "no-can-do!" due to the wheel studs... but lets reallyyy hope that doesnt happen!


and in regards to that last story... WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO YOUR WHEELS!! im sorry, but augh! the things people do..
