How to check the S15 Silvia Dash cluster

Instructions below

HOW TO ACTIVATE DASH CLUSTER DIAGNOSIS MODE

1. Turn ignition switch to ON (reds) and change odo/trip meter to “TRIP A” or “TRIP B”.
2. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
3. Turn ignition switch to ON while depressing the odo/trip meter switch.
4. Confirm that trip meter indicates “0000.0”.
5. Push odo/trip meter switch more than three times within 5 seconds.
6. All odo/trip meter display segments should now be turned on.

At this point, the dash cluster is now in diagnosis mode.

7. Push and hold odo/trip meter switch. Indication of each meter/gauge should be as follows: -
Speedometer displays – 45Km/h
Tachometer displays – 1750rpm
Fuel Gauge displays – Half Tank
Temperature gauge - Qtr Temp
While pushing odo/trip meter switch if you do not get the above results the dash cluster unit is internally malfunctioning.
NOTE: Wait. It takes a few seconds for indication of fuel gauge and water temperature gauge to become stable.

Important NOTE: The vehicle speed pulse (VSS) used by the dash cluster is produced by the ABS control module, if the fault lies with this module you are best advised to seek professional help as faults with this system can/will impact on braking performance and safety of the vehicle.

Hi nismo king, no final post?

Just wanted to see if you had found a resolution to your erratic Speedo issue? Kind of intrigued as to what produced this problem. And what fixed it.
Hope you got it sorted.

hey [touge] i havent been able to resole the issue yet , though what you posted was very helpful. i think the problem lay in the harness that i patched up, maybe i missed a wire. Its possible , i couldnt be stuffed unraping 1m of electrical tape too double check. i will post if i ever find the cause .
