Got my car back today from gettin the roof finally changed over & also got the frp rear quarter panels bolted onto the car, cost me more than I thought it would, but it's better than the other quotes I got given, Jeez some places know how to charge. It looks like a Mt Druitt chop shop job

Stripped the paint back on the boot to repaint it, got the top few layers of paint off and took an angle grinder with wire brush attachment to it to cut through the rest and as I started along the rhs edge I noticed a few bits of really thin metal had been welded in and it had a few small holes (so ends the mystery of how water was getting into the boot) after deciding not to bother repairing it in favor of buying a fibreglass boot lid I took to the metal with a screwdriver and hammer to see what was underneath

The left hole appears to be where a wing once was.. The other two are rust by the looks of it

^^ This is why a cheap job to delete a spoiler is not worth it in the long run.

There should be carbon boot lids around these days as well as FRP,and the cost isn't that much different. Paint it to match the car,and it's several less kg of weight to lug around, with no chance of defects.

Agreed, was a poor job of sealing up the old spoiler holes but what else is new with this car, I've found a few carbon boot lid's that aren't too expensive but I figured seeing as I'm going to paint it then it might be easier just getting an frp one.. Or do you think a carbon one might be the best option?

Depends on the difference in price between the two,and the quality.

Carbon will be half a kilo or so lighter than the FRP.

If the price and quality are similar,I'd personally go for the carbon.

I found a carbon boot that I can get from the U.S for about $520 delivered & I saw a guy near me about getting a fibreglass one and he quoted roughly $350, but I'm unsure of how good his quality is

I got another engine due to mine being buggered and ingesting alot of water by accident so I brought a blacktop 180sx engine with about 178xxx km's on it, brought it home all good, hooked up the straps the wreckers had left on there n lifted it off my ute with the crane & as I got it clear of my ute the engine suddenly dropped and smacked into the concrete.

I looked at my mate and said wtf happened? then looked at the 'strap' to find the cheap c**t had used a seatbelt instead of a strap/chain and the f**king belt had snapped.. Wasn't I massively pissed off.. I sat the engine up to see what kinda damage the engine copped from the fall n this is it..

I'm surprised the seatbelt material snapped. THat stuff is usually really strong.

I've got a spare intake manifold if you cant source one elsewhere

I kept the manifold from the engine I took out, but thanks for the offer & I didn't realise the material is usually strong, I thought the guy was being cheap, maybe it was just how the crane held it cause he brought it out on a forklift and the strap held up alright

Got my new oil pan on, ordered an ARC pan but apparently they went bust in japan so I got sent a Tomei pan instead, I assume the hole on the left hand side is for a oil temperature gauge?

Also seems I might have to look at getting a fuel cell, When I took my tank out I left the straps hanging down and they got a bit bent, when I couldn't get them to bolt back up my short temper came into play and I bent the fudge out of them, I went to see Nissan but they don't sell them anymore and neither do any of the wrecker's I've rang
