Saw the Natsoft times, nice work Dave!

How did the car hold up?

5 laps into session 5, i had the boost up to 1.2 bar and was stringing a few 7's together then...

Probably should do a proper write up.

In general the car was behaving well with a couple of small issues.

1) when cold it's pumping out oil smoke like nothing else (it was about 1 degree in the first session). Easy enough to just give it a bit more warm up time as it didn't have much time yesterday.

2) The coolant leak is still there and appeared to be getting worse through out the day. Water and oil temps stayed pretty low regardless. I don't think the water temp went over 80 degrees, oil in the sump peaked at about 100.

3) waste gate (see above post). I call it a small issue as it's a pretty simple/cheap fix.

4) The rear brakes really didn't appear to be doing much work. I suspect it's related to the master cylinder issues i experienced. Rear pads are barely worn and still have the black paint around the pad material from new. I'll be getting it rebuilt.

And the good:

RE55's shit all over r888's

The car was still pretty neutral handling wise tending to oversteer when i cocked it up with line or entry speed. Still very easy to bring back into line.

Pulled a few mid 7's and plenty of low 8's through out the day though as it was a CC day every second session was untimed so a lot of unrecorded laps. Best of 1:07.67 for the day

Also congrats to TMB for getting his sil80 into the 7's too. But it's not on natsoft so it doesn't count :P

Good work. Shame about the issues. Luckily nothing too major.

I reckon you will get it into the 6's soon enough and then faster.

What power were you running?

Are you running without a cage?

maybe 250-260ish when i did the 1:07.67. I was only running 1 bar (ebc off) until i got used to it. In s5 when i turned up the boost and was doing pretty easy mid-high 7's when i had a bit of space and didn't cock up the exit from the fish hook by going in too hot.

Still no cage but getting serious consideration.

No wonder he's put up an EOI on the Silvia! Who needs a track car when your street registered car can do 7's!

Bloody hell, that gate photo is a bit scary. I hope you noticed when the car was stationary.

Expect more out of the sil80 when I do the next round of mods. Mostly weight reduction, also brakes. I reckon there is another 50kg i can take out

It came off just before i hit the brakes for the fish hook....luckily the hoses held it on, just the end of the pipe dragged along the ground.

A cage would be pretty high on the priority list wouldn't it! Safety first, times second especially with the times you car is capable of...

Only negative is that you will add around 20-40kg so nullifies any weight reduction.

Cant wait to get out there again. Going to be aiming for consistent 1:06's

ouch, not good to see that break off but good work on the lap time :)
prehaps ask luis to put a flex pipe on the side that plumbs into the exhaust, that might help abit with movement.

It's not plumbed back atm, dunno if i can be stuffed to be honest.

Anyway, some laps

Best of 1:07.67 and a far from perfect lap. Completely fucked up turn 9.

And a 1:07.70 from an earlier session.

Good videos.

As can be seen, you can go a lot quicker with the car.

Easy 6's and even a 5 with the power your making and the weight of the car. Some wider rubber would make a massive difference alone.

When's the next day out?
