how come the cage joiners are bolted in a bracket and not welded? does it do the same job as a welded one.

Its a bolt in cage so can be unbolted at any time.

Complies with CAMS regulations and stiffens the car considerably.

I think a complete weld in cage is the best way to go for a non-registered car. My is still registered so I went the bolt in route.

I still like bolt in's. A weld in is there forever, where as a bolt in can be swapped from car to car easily if you ever bend it....

Have you had any issues with the exposed fuel system during scrutineering?

I've not entered into any events that have had strict scrutineering so have not come across any issues as yet.

But I'll need to consider this for Supersprints etc.

In relation to the cage, I'm sure you can request the legs to go through the dash in the bolt in kit.

The car made it's first outing today at OP GP. I only did half a day but overall pretty happy with the way the car is now.

The old toyo's seemed to be reasonably happy but the brake pads are no longer up to the job with the bigger stops and lacked feel and stopping power after a couple of laps.

Had one of the breather fittings pop out of the rocker cover in the second session which is a new one.... Luckily it didn't dump much oil or effect performance but it did stink up the cabin pretty badly

The day ended with my rear pads wearing down to nothing and possibly taking a seal and a rotor with them. It was one of the few things i hadn't checked in the rush to get the car track ready.

The water temp got up a bit high in the 3rd and last session. I still don't have the air guides completed so there is room for improvement there.

I have to relearn throttle control as it's a bit of an animal when it comes onto boost, also need to look at getting a recirc bov on it to try and control the reversion on partial throttle lifts as it's really that sensitive at light throttle that bumps would easily upset it on corner exit.

any pics from your outing dave?
must be a handful when on boost lol

yeah you'll definitely need a recirc BOV to keep nice transitional response, and put an extra spring on the throttle :)

Nah, i haven't looked at it.

I did realise a few days after the track day that the 2 earths that go to the back of the plenum weren't connected which may or may not contribute.

I'll probably have a play with it over the christmas holidays when i have a bit more time as i'm currently trying to get the new street car drivable. No track days booked so no real urgency on the track car right now.

Non connected earths can do funny things to your car, probly are related to the idle problem..

Well it's been a while but i actually did some work on it last weekend in preparation for the upcoming Circuit Club Queens bday wakefield day.

Installed MFR easy throttle to help with driving out of corners

Installed S15 BMC to bring the pedal back to where it should be (previously had an s13 de BM33) with a tee piece as it's an abs master on a non abs car.

Installed new rear pads (just cheap HD bendix's), checked rotors and they seem ok despite one pad getting down to metal. Also the calliper hasn't leaked at all in the 9 months since i parked it so hopefully the seal is ok and was just touchy because the piston was over extended.

Installed project Mu HC+ front pads. Dust boots on the caliper are showing signs of getting hot....

Pulled all the wheels off to get the new RE55's put on next weekend.

Tracked down the overheating issue to a small leak under the inlet manifold which had dropped the water level a bit. Tightened the hose clamp up. Hopefully that's all it is but it's easy enough to keep an eye on.

Loctite'd the breather fitting that popped out.

Still haven't installed the bov or finished the air guides but as it's cool atm i don't think i'll have overheating issues. I'll probably get onto that after this track day.

So all thats left for this one is reinstall the wheels, bleed the brakes and give it a wash because it is filthy.

Good stuff.

What size RE55's did you get?

It will be a handful with the power your making now.

What times are you looking to get out of it? Pending the car is OK.

i've stuck with 235's this time round

Hopefully low 7's as it sits. I'm probably going to have to tweak the suspension to make the most of it.

Cool.

Definitely has the power and bits to go low 7's and quicker.

Have you got a wheel alignment done?
