hey guys, ya i own a 5d2 and absolutely love it. I do have a few L lenses to go with it which makes it quite nice. But back on topic I haven't shot much video on this however the footage that I did take on my honeymoon was convincing enough for me to sell my canon hf10 (avchd hd cam). The body is like 3.5k+ so you probably want to be shooting alot or have deep pockets. Using the 5d2 in video mode is clunky and there is NO auto focus. However it does produce nice images and when you stick a good fast lens on it, its a weapon. Most of my photography is portraits/ couples/ modelling, and for me the 5d is a great camera for that, the video is a bonus.

Feel free to check out some of the pics on my blog and on my flickr site

Oh also for those wondering 21mp files are massive. You will need at least an 8gig card for a day trip out. When im photographing models I can blitz through 8 gigs in about 2 hours.

Ian - I took about 70 gigs of video and photos on my honeymoon over 3 weeks, and that's not me trigger happy.

If you can afford it get it, its a great camera.

I found out i can get a 50D with 18-200 from Canon for just under 1500, ridiculously cheap for a brand new camera... but i already have the d200.

What you guys think of the 50D? its either that or ill just spend some money on some nikon lenses. I'm just blinded by cheap prices. Yes im asian. hahaaha

50D is shit compared to the 40D IMO. if you can afford it, get the 5D2, if not, get a 40D. should check out some comparisons.

or get a nikon :P

I'm just looking at my next lens. I was thinking of the Nikon AF 80-200mm f/2.8D ED which I can get for $1488. The AF-S VR 70-200mm f/2.8D IF-ED is even nicer, but costs $2469. The sales guy suggested I could instead look at a 70-300mm f/4-5.6 which are either $895 or $299 depending on which one I want.

This is turning out to be more expensive than my car!

the 70-300 is ok but its a bit of a slow lens

i have the 70-200 F2.8 and its effing awesome. seriously. if you can afford the cash, get one. i think i paid $2600 for mine...... it is the ferrari of lenses! even canon people rekon its good.

the 80-200 is good but i dont think it has any IS.

My only concern is that if I am paying $2600 for a lense then I should be putting it on a D700 rather than a D90 :(

nope not really. because if/when you upgrade to a FF camera, you wont have to buy new lenses.

plus with the 1.5/1.6x zoom youll be getting 300mm from the 200mm anyway!
