Hi all,

i just moved places and got ADSL2+ connected and im having an issue with my house phone when ADSL is connected. Basically i can call out no problems but i cannot receive calls it just goes to a busy tone, the house phone doesnt even call. I have 3 ADSL2+ compliant filters connected to the devices on the phone line.

As soon as i unplug the modem from the phone outlet it works fine WTF.

Has anyone had a problem like this before?

your modem is faulty. do you have the line plugged into the line socket on the modem? some have a line and phone socket.

if you can disconnect the modem and all is well, its the modem. ring up your internet providor if they supplied it, if not buy a new one sorry to say!

ill try another modem tongith thanks Zie, im just hoping it is the modem and not faulty wiring. Routers are cheap, sparkies are not.

yeah i was looking at the firmware updates and its strange here is the lastest 3 updates

• Version 4.01.40 (for outside NA)
Sep 5, 2007

• Version 4.01.37 (for outside NA)
Mar 24, 2008

• Version 4.01.30 (for outside NA)
Sep 5, 2007

i have got 4.01.30 at the moment and common knowledge would say go to the higest revision which is the .40 revision however if you look at the dates the .37 revision seems to be newer.... not to sure which one to choose.

yeah the .37 is more relevant to me anyways as it allows for WPA to be used with the PS3.

Ill give the firmware upgrade ago tonight and see if that does the trick if not ill try a new modem.

The modem was working fine before so im hoping it isnt dodgy wiring that screwed up the modem, (if it is screwed).

Almost certainly a problem with the modem, if you disconnect the modem from the line and your phone works.

Double check that 'line' and 'phone' sockets aren't crossed, but if they aren't, try a new modem.

work of advise when doing an isolation test use a different phone cable.

i swapped over the phone cable going into the modem and that seem to do the trick, i can now recieve phone calls no problem. stupid phone cable!!! well everything seems fine now, so lets hope it stays that way.

thanks for the help guys.
