Post subject:  Using old programs on windows vista...

Mf gf just bought a laptop with windows vista on it.

Now I have a sony Digital8 video camera with those 8mm tapes, and the program that came with the camera wont work properly even though windows tried to make its own adjustments.

My aim is to be able to transfer the footage to the laptop so I can edit it and make my own movie through windows movie maker.

Windows movie maker came already installed, I was thinking maybe that it cant recognise the camera along with the laptop. Maybe I have to use another video editing program?

What can I do?

You could try this. Open the Program Compatibility Wizard by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Use an older program with this version of Window and then follow the on screen instructions.

If not. Go to the disc drive on My computer. Right click-->explore-->then look for a file called setup.exe or install.exe or something similar.

Hope that helps.

Nope didnt work.
I can use this 'usb stream tool' my footage comes up with that.

But when I go into windows movie maker it still says it cant find a compatible digital device.

Yeah dont use it. Its crap. Did you get video editing with the camera? Try it.
If not Google some free video editing software. Or torrents >8D

I had a look and I found off the Sony eSupport site that my camera is supported by Vista.

So why wont it work, fuk fuk fukn computers... Ive been trying for fukn hours!

EDIT: I did get editing with the camera, all it is is "picture package''.

It has the picture thing, usb driver and image mixer on it.
