the springing and leap was pretty sweet. I wonder when this technology will filter down to the next Mitsu EVO ;)

Didn't this technology come from the EVO in the first place? I mean, they drive themselves around racetracks

I'd say a few accelerometers and some very intelligent programming

I believe its simple (not really simple) physics and mathematics...

Based on the force applied to this thing, slippery surface or a kick, "it" can determine the work needed to be stable by using Newton's laws, then based on the weight distribution of "it", it can produce a complex probability function that will generate a code to achieve either a stable state or not...

Of course we talking here about super processors that can do 100s of calculations very very fast...

lets just say the designer(s) is(are) NERD(S) :D

:o

I'm very impressed. the applications for that on a larger scale are mindblowing.

I'll be VERY scared when someone can make a biped that agile.

Justin...

the concept is actually quite simple, copy nature. if you watch it closely you will notice that it moves just like any 4 legged animal, in fact much like a reindeer would, especially when it tries to restabilise

i would say its the small details and converting the natural movement into progammable code that is difficult
