im sure its in the works already, or will be the next project once they finish this.

given how fast the evolution of this thing has occurred, the wait shouldnt be all that long..

Justin...

I'll be scared when they shield it's ecu from emp, don't have to refuel it anymore, network it, and then put living tissue over the metal endoskeleton (refer previous skynet post).

And when they make it 50 foot tall and put guns on it.

terminators aren't going to happen. mobile suits might however.

I can see this kind of machine eventually becoming a replacement for the current main battle tank concept in common usage today,or in the short term,as an alternative to the jeep + missiles/guns unit currently in use in some locations.

something smaller, with far greater agility and rough terrain mobility that can carry missiles or machine guns into an enclosed area that conventional vehicles could not access,or that could fire from within a hidden position would be a very effective weapon.

these quadrapeds are quite flexible, and can carry a lot of equipment with relatively little impact on the area they're passing through. -much harder to spot or track than a truck/jeep and both quieter and more mobile, albeit slower at their current level of development.

the days of MBTs slugging it out on the open field are long over. aircraft dominate the modern battlefield and being small, hard to locate and able to hit fast and hard are very desirable traits for survival.
something like this creeping through a forest between the trees will be hard to locate from the air,and if appropriately armed, could engage aircraft as well as ground targets whilst presenting a minimal sillhouette.
ideal sentry....or even just as a packhorse carrying supplies to support conventional infantry.

the only weaknesses I can see at present are it's slow speed, and the fragility of the legs. that will always be a problem in comparsion to a conventional vehicle, but if they are quick enough, and used intelligently, the risk of damage rendering the unit imobile would be minimised.

ever seen gasaraki Jay? that kind of thing (power armour) is more likely than a gundam would ever be,but I guess only time will tell.

I can't help myself,I love robots, used to play battletech in school as well...
If we manage to not blow the planet or ourselves up first,we may see stuff like that, and possibly even within our lifetimes with the speed technology is advancing.

I remember a few years ago now tenders for exo-skeletons/wearable armor that the US govt was putting out, I haven't been following it madly but never saw anything beyond the initial designs.
