I sent the xbox in on Wednesday... hopefully it wont take to long. MS give 3 year warranty for all xbox's for the RROD issue. (this is my 2nd RROD on this xbox.)

actually PS3s had a bigger overheating problem in their first batch than the RROD has EVERY had. that said, my 3 consoles havent missed a beat. i guess its good to wait

anyone done the NXE upgrade on their 360?? looks pretty and everything is somewhere else. does the same thing basically!

my xbox is still dead, the repair agency acknowledged that they had received it on friday... hopefully they are actually in the process of fixing it.

Hows the new NXE? have you copied some games to the HD? make loading any faster?

umm sony completely denied the overheating problems till enough people made enough noise that they would do something about it!

the last 3 series of 360s havent had any problems FYI mate

only true because old units are replaced with refurbed old units, and are still prone to over heating.


new units use less power and run cooler. if you buy a new unit your risk of overheating is drastically lower than units from the past few batches.

for the record ive got 2 360s and neither of them have over heated, even during marathon mid-summer sessions. Both of them are older models too.

if you do some searches you will find hundreds of examples of late model Elite Xbox's still suffering from RROD. The use of the 65nm chips has reduced the number of failures, but its still a fundamentally bad architecture.

They still do not put CPU fans on the CPU or GPU. Pathetic.

However I still believe Xbox 360 has the best games and best online experience - when they are working.

I can't wait till mine is fixed and I get back in there... Its been pretty tough to stop myself just buying a new one.

(instead I bought a DVD player with USB connection to play my recorded content... )

(already there are methods to bypass it, and there is strong arguement against it, however it was one of Rudd's major election promise, so even though politions usually never come through on their promises... I'm sure he is personally pushing for it.)
