Be prepared to start at the bottom.

I know a kid who is 16 now and has never had a job. He just bludges off his parents. He thinks he is too good to work in either low-end retail or fast food.

I started out as a paper boy when I was 11, then I got a job for Domino's when I was 13.

I worked my way up the chain there until before my HSC when I quit.

Domino's was great fun. I met heaps of people who I am still friends with now, and more importantly I was introduced to my love-affair with imports.

There are also opportunities to move up and be a crew trainer or assistant manager or manager - and these exist at nearly all fast food stores.

It also (believe it or not) provides good experience and looks good on your resume when you want to apply for another better job. :D

I like your sense of humour

I had a few shit kicker jobs at school so I thought I might as well add.

Maccas/fast food:
Pros: Recognised training program, social (lots of people your age). Time passes quickly.
Cons: Hot, pay is poor.

Retail (I did Sanity):
Pros: Pay is a little better than in fast food. Pretty bludgy.
Cons: Idiots who don't know what they want. Boredom.

Hospitality: I know you're a bit young now, but for me it's the pick of casual jobs. Hell, you can make a good career of it if you want.

Pros: Pay is better again (generally). Tips. You'll always find work somewhere.
Cons: Drunks, late nights.

I worked at Toys R Us as my first job.

Started out kicking shit then 4 years later made manager.

It's a good way to get into a retail/sales career

Did wonders for my confidence too.

I used to be a shy little kid but now im an old, loud, arrogant prick (retail will do that to ya)

Nah not any more. Packed it in because I was sick of offering my kind services to impatient, rude scum from Liverpool who didn't even deserve to be given the time of day, let alone some assistance with their pokemans.

+1 for Domino's .. upto september last year I was the store manager of 1 store, Then two, I worked my way up from instore in a matter of about 4 years, it paid good but hours are long when It wasnt busy. Working in domino's is abit different to the nromal fast food shop, You could for your first year work only on ordering, or hard labour depending on the store.

Hey guys I'm bumping this up after a loooooong time.

I applied for lots of jobs but got rejected..
But then the other day I got offered a job at a mechanic during the holidays. Details like pay haven't been figured out so I'm not sure.

So what do you reckon I should do?

Btw the mechanic is in Mortdale whereas I am in Campbelltown..
