Just in case you haven't heard, the harbour tunnel will be e-Toll only from July.

Bridge will continue to have cash booths though... but I have to wonder for how long...

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/usingroads/sh ... shtchanges

Just means I will be using the tunnel all the time, as the bridge is going to be a nightmare with all those tagless mofo's congesting it up...

Awesome.

I'm fucking fed up with dickheads who decide to wait until they're at the fucking booths before searching for change, or making no-look kamikaze moves to get into or out of the e-tag lane at the last possible minute.

Had to happen... and I agree (and hope) its only a matter of time before the Bridge ends up tag only.

I truly believe you should get a tag part of your rego and thus everyone will have one.

Why not RFID tags for all cars instead of rego stickers etc etc etc

My only problem with this is as Alan said, the bridge will get busier and unfortunately where I got in the city its not convenient to take the tunnel.

RFID tags for rego, now you're talking... until they decide to detect speed via RFID tags... but that is something that will eventually happen also.

The bridge continuing to use cash will be a pain.

I'm gonna have to make little flip motorized plates, james bond style. I'll press a copy of iain's plates then do some TTT runs.

That or get an etag

I do that, because my e tag doesnt work half the time at the regular boom gates and I end up having to break hard to nut run into then boom, then I have to sit there till an attendant lets me through.
some people get quite annoyed and have a tantrum when I push into a gap in the etag lane, but I always get into it as early as possible, not my fault the falcon st entrance is so far down.

Tag only everywhere FTW. What's the big deal - they don't cost anything and it makes crossing the bridge/tunnel so much easier.

I didn't get an e-tag for years (seeing as I hardly use toll roads, living in Newcastle) but it's so much more convenient to have one - especially when I do drive to Sydney I usually take 1 or 2 toll roads somewhere in the journey - and who the hell carries "change" for toll machines around, anyway?

So yeah, I'm e-tag endowed and I don't even live in Sydney... it just makes sense.
Plus it's much easier to cruise through an e-tag point at 80km/h than it is to queue up with all the other suckers.

Indeed you're right, anyone paying tolls are suckers. I'd rather put $4.40 in my tank than save 10-15 minutes. Although that's when i'm in povo mode.

Some of the time it's almost quicker not to go via toll roads.

I go via the M5(?) and Lane Cove Tunnel when I'm headed to the city - all that stop/start crap down the Pacific Hwy drives me up the wall - and most Sydney drivers scare me, so I'd rather not be in traffic with them.
And across the harbour into the city it's toll or... toll.
Or go a really long way around to get there, so toll is cheaper.

So yeah, maybe if you're already in the metro area somewhere or have to travel those roads a lot, but for me it's definitely quicker and more convenient to take toll roads.

well we might have to get an e tag to go to swansey soon when they decide what they are going to do with that bridge thats falling down. no matter what they do its been decided that there will be a toll to cover the cost. what a bunch of bung holes.

i've got an etag and it works about 50% of the time so it works one way and then i get flashed going to opposite way.

You guys that have trouble getting your etag to scan... are you using E-Tag (ROAM)? or E-Toll (RTA)?

I have E-Toll and its only once had a problem, and that was when I went through the harbour bridge gate at 90klms instead of 40... luckily didn't get a fine, still had to pay toll though... :-)
