Thanks for all those pics :P Looks like you squeezed a LOT in!

I love all those mint condition old school cars.

Lucky me had the opportunity to spend a few weeks in Japan over the christmas/new year period. Brilliant country.

Being the Silvia forums, I thought I'd concentrate on the cool car related aspects of the holiday:

Parts of the country seem a little Initial D crazy. There just aren't any 25 year old cars on the road anywhere, apart from..... stacks of mint cond Hachis! It's awesome!

The new GT-R is well and truly here! I saw a couple just cruising the streets (Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Tokyo). There was also a full on exhibit in the Ginza area of Tokyo, so I had a chance to see one up close! And as if they weren't tempting enough, they are selling domestically in Japan for ¥8.3mil (about $87K). IMO unbelievable value for a 911 turbo beater.

Super Autobacs stores are crazy. Like super cheap auto, but a lot bigger, and with a decent amount of performance parts for sale too. I was surprised they weren't cheaper though. It was still the equivalent of $2k for a good coilover set, nearly $1500 for a good set of street tyres, etc. So not exactly bargain central. The wall devoted to dildo gearknobs was quite amusing.

The nismo workshop I went to great lengths to visit was closed. I was pissed. The '98 Le Mans car in the window was small compensation.

The amount of "pimp my van" going on is just crazy. They don't hold back that's for sure - CE28's, curtains(?), zorsts, neon, kits galore.

EVO wagons and Nissan cube pickups win the most random award.

That's about all I cant think of at the moment. In conclusion, awesome country but I picked a terrible time of year to go as far as motor sport is concerned (i.e. no D1, no JGTC, no F1, etc).

I'll be back for sure...

P.s. thanks to old man greg and Too Much Boost for the travel tips.

P.p.s. sorry to our Japanese readers whose time I wasted with this post :P

Niseko is awesome, was there about 3 years ago. I heard that the number of Aussies there has skyrocketed so it's possibly one of the only places in Japan where you can drop your wallet and it WON'T be there when you come back :P.
I'm going to Hakuba this year, 18th to the 20th in fact :).
Then drifting Fuji Speedway Short Course the weekend after is the plan :).

Are you going in Jan or Feb? Matrix man?
Im swapping over some AUD to YEN now- the rates are dropping quickly-
CBA seems as good as it gets- and HSBC.
Check the reserve bank for the stats.
