Well i`m in holidays in Japan at the moment and just thought i`d put a post up to say it`s awesome.

So far i`ve been staying in Osaka, but have done daytrips on the Shinkansen to Hiroshima and Himeji castle, also went on a daytrip to Kyoto.

There isn`t that many nice cars in general though. I think you need to go to specific areas at specific times to see all that, but their selection of cars is 100x better than ours. Even their little Kei vans are wicked in stock form. Nissan Cube looks like a little tonka sized hummer. Toyota Chasers and Mark II`s are everywhere, and pretty much every taxi is a toyota crown

Went to SuperAutobacs in Kyoto, and although there are cheaper places out there, the prices are still crazy cheap compared to Australia. I bought a leather Nismo gearknob for 4200Yen (about $42). They had alot of dildo style gearknobs too - the jury is still out on those ones.

Anyone else been? Where else should I go in Osaka and Tokyo?

It's a surprising amount of fun in an El Grand when you have to get up and back in under an hour before they close the gates (though not as much fun as the gas truck super battle)

Head out to Sequential while you're in osaka anthony, they do some really nice work out there

And yes, I'm doing the email tonight

See if you can find a Cube Pickup ;).
My girlfriend wants one alot...
Fuji raceway was pretty awesome, i don't know if anything is on there but it's not to hard to get to. Get a train to Gotemba and there is a bus service to Fuji from there, the bus times etc are on the Fuji Raceway website.
When i was there there was a D1 round on (i think there was one a few weeks ago) and a club event on the separate drift circuit as well.

When i was in Osaka/Kyoto i just went to all the usual touristy places (did you go to the golden temple and get trampled by the masses??), but my favourite place there was Fushimi Inari Taishi.

Sounds like fun Anthony 8)

I've been to Osaka but spent most of the two weeks I was there hand picking a car to bring back to Aust. from the Auctins in Chiba. USS was probably the biggest I went to though it was 2001.

Though if you are looking for Night touge or a good view over Osaka Mino mountain is a good spot :) and also the central railway station (cant remember name) is well known for cruising Vanners and VIP cars I have a whole photo album full of nights hanging out there.

There is also lots to do at Kobe the fairy trip is great especially this time of year!

Don't think he'll be seeing much at Nanko or Mino, lots of cops cracking down in the last year or so.
If you want to see VIP cars go to Hiroshima and stand on the street.
Lots of them.
Didn't see any of the super over the top ones though, i think that's a fad that's been and gone.
Just lots of very sleek looking cars probably belonging to friendly members of the yamaguchi gumi or whatever :P.
Most drift cars i've ever seen just driving around on the streets of Japan (barring say outside the front gate of Fuji speedway..) was in Hokkaido, saw lots of people driving down to the shops in the snow in their beaten up S13s and stuff.

Not really, i was just walking around Kutchan (small town near Hirafu where the ski fields are) and saw a few drive past and a few in the distance.
Just in that one town there was a 180sx with broken bodykit and cage, S14 which was quite neat, once again with cage and seat etc and a JZX81 with big kit and cage.
Back towards Sapporo i saw some other cars like Spoon style Civics and stuff.
QUite suprising given the snow and stuff.
I guess Hokkaido is alot freer with that kind of stuff so people are more open with their cars?
Or perhaps there is more empty country roads to have fun on.
In Sapporo City itself i only saw an R34 GTR, dirty and stock and a Silvia Q, also dirty and stock.

I was surprised how many S15's I saw in Sapporo actually, not the car you expect to see a lot of in the snow

I find that once you get out of the cities and into the hills you start seeing a lot of drift cars, most were beaten to the craphouse screaming "send me to australia" but there were a lot of them.

And I agree with Fushimi Inari, awesome temple complex.

Well i had a good day yesterday.

I met up with a mate who lives in Osaka. He had to go and pay for a drift day he is entered in (Expert Class), so we went cross town in his Honda Life Kei car (complete with volk 15x7in rims with stretched rubber) to the bodyshop who is organising the drift day. This shop had a few S6 RX7 showcars out the front. Cool start to the day i thought

Next he decided to take me to the TRIAL workshop. I think there was about 10 hot GTR's out front (inc some 800hp+ ones), a circuit NA S13, some lotus's and various other cool stuff. Turns out they are very friendly and my mate knew the sales manager, so they offer us free drinks and have a chat. This place has a freakin bar with beer/spirits/etc etc, and he says we can have whatever we want free. NICE! So we sit around talking shit with this guy for like 2 hours. I got to meet the owner of TRIAL Japan, which was also quite cool.

Next Stop: Up Garage. Just to burst your bubble up front - Up Garage is really quite expensive, but they do have a MASSIVE range or 2nd hand rims, and many other cool bits, but they are sorta scattered everywhere, so a fair amount of time could be spent finding what you want.

Then we headed off to have Yakiniku, which is all you can eat bbq, where you cook the food yourself on a little grill in the middle of the table. Yum!

Then we dumped the women and went out for some fun. My friend rung around and found out that there will be drifting in Mino Mountains about an hour from his place later on tonight. So we head up there and arrive about 11pm. There is only a few Kei cars spectating and a couple of Onevia's practicing in this section. We sit around for another hour, then an R32 with all different coloured panels, and a C33 Laurel with S14 SR20 turn up. These guys know how to drift. So they practice for about 15mins until the real serious crew arrive. This bunch of cars consisted of 4 S13's and 2 S14's doing team drift up and down the mountain. There was also a JZA80 with T78 and screamer going nuts (that was REAL loud in the mountains), and a little hachiroku buzzing up and down the hill.

All up it was a top night. Got home about 4am

:D

Video footage was taken at great risk to me 8)

Basically if any of them overcooked it, I was going to be their barrier :-?

Ah you got to go to the Touge!
when i went up there (after going to Nanko) it was all over...we arrived at like 4am though haha.

Does the Honda Life still have rediculous spring rates?

Also risking life and limb for footage is cool!
I stood behind a telagraph pole at Nanko and sort of leaned out haha.
