Dear all,

My brother who was in cheers in george street told me that on the saturday night, a male was hit by a car and died instantely. The thing I dont undertsand to the story is why the female driver did not even attemtp to brake. I wonder what may happen to the driver. So if she was going the right speed limit and did take all care ie the male just walked in front of the car is there any charge? her lawyer could argue that the male was blind drunk......

Anyways, whatever the outcome I feel for the guys family........

There was a similar accident on the same spot late last year. Cheers is a nasty place to be.

Yeah, sadly she probably could get into trouble as the predestrian always has right of way, anywhere on the road. I know, STUPID!

still what if the guy had a high level of alchol in his sytem, isnt that her defence and also she was traveling at normal speed. He could have possibly went in front of the car and even though legally she obeyed all rules, was not able to stop due to the situation. If she can prove that what may happen than?

Only if they are walking.

If they are running, they are not in right of way (even stupider rule).

What needs to happen is better education to pedestrians to keep off the road, and walk on the FOOT path.

Hey, if I am not allowed to drive down the footpath, they shouldn't be allowed to walk down the road.

Anyway, feel sorry for the family of the guy (not sorry for the guy, he wouldn't have felt any pain if he died instantly).

Also, if it was deemed to be a complete accident, then the driver is up for at worst a manslaughter charge.

You will find most of the time, if the driver was not speeding, had not been drinking, and has a pretty clean record, they will get off without a charge, but remember, they have to live with the fact they killed someone for the rest of their lives, and that alone is enough to cause some serious mental issues.

B.

In george street its pretty bad. I even witnessed a mugging that happened during daylight. Four guys went from the back of two guys and they ounched and kicked ther guys and stole their wallet and phones. They than scatted like the rats that they were.
