If there is any truth to it (and lets face it when does the media ever report the truth) it would be down right un-Australian.

The only people who will find the Oz flag antagonistic is those who hate the country it represents and everything it stands for.

Unfortunately there are a growing number of non-anglos who seem to have this view and want to stab any proud Oz person in the back or get all his cousins to bash them

Let me give them directions to the airport, and if they were born here let me suggest some other countries they may want to permantly visit. I would not consider myself an overly patriotic person but if I REALLY didn't like the country I was in, I would just leave for a place I thought was better.

I wouldn't believe a News network report as far as I could throw it.

Of course, now there will be a million and 1 Aussie flags (as well as other nationalities flags) at the big day out. They should have just left it alone.

I would not have even considered the Big Day Out as some sort of nationalistic thing if they hadn't have brought this up.

i was born 5mins before australia day lol, not that you guys would care. It's ridiculous that we have to be afraid of taking a flag out to represent the nationwide holiday celebrating our history. I'm sure the people that hate our country are happy to take the day off with the rest of us. If you ask me, if they live here, they shouldnt have a damn say in our culture. Australia is a safe country, esp compared to some others out there. They should consider it a privalege to live here, as i do.

yeah some people are just plain hypocrits, If they truely hate Australia then how about the turn up to work and work like it is just another day without being payed overtime. I bet not a single one would.

Cronulla riots anyone? Sudden jump in southern cross tattoo's mean anything? You did see the cronulla riot photos right? Guy's in aussie flag capes bashing some random arab looking guy on a train? Another crowd hitting a guy with beer bottles.

And you probably aren't aware that this is a sydney specific thing too as no other state had a leb hunt in a predominantly white coastal suburb that i can remember.

People should stop being so bloody stupid. Its Australia and if you want to hold the flag up high and proud you should be able to without wondering if the national flag is going to offend someone or start racial tention!! The only thing that should be banned from big day out is not the flag but the people wanting to start violence because of the flag!!!!

Bashing people for looking sideways at you is fucking stupid. The truth is you have to tip toe around everything these days. People get offended over everything, then start a fight or a law suit. I dont really care what the media is trying to warn us about, i love my country and if i want to wave our flag, i will.
