Come on, you know you want to build a pulsejet dragster...
Least it would make the Kitty-Car sound comparatively sociable

yeah that should be a little bit louder :P

I have actually built a pulse jet. It wasn't very big, but it was very loud!
Turbojets are more fun :)

Guess he figures if it does blow up while he's attached to it then the helmet isnt going to make much difference, mind you at least some proper motorsport, fire retardant clothing and balaclava might be a good idea so you dont get incinerated sitting in it.

Not that its the most sensible thing to do in the first place!

Never made a pulsejet or turbojet, I did make lots of homemade blackpowder rockets when I was younger and more fucking idiotic... was always fun to see if a 2kilo engine would make NEO or mostly just leave a huge hole, either way it was a 'win' for the arvo :)
Kids these days have it suckier, do that kind of crap and you'd have the cops around arresting you for terrorism, which is most unfair because all we ever managed to terrorise is ourselves....

So thats why you only have 5 fingers these days?

I'm fairly certain there's a clip around somewhere of one of dumheds early attempts at a turbo jet.

here's a video of my first turbo jet, built in early 2000.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LIQsXsNvTg

In late 2005 I built a new one:

It uses a turbo from a Nissan Patrol turbo diesel, and has a full oil system using a power steering pump and an S13 intercooler as an oil tank / cooler.

After spooling up 25psi of boost with EGTs way too hot, the turbine looked like this:

oops :P

Lucky I had a spare turbo :)

Holy crap, it works well!

I showed this to some of the engineers at work and they're kinda eyeballing my car for spares now... I might be able to placate them with an S13 intercooler, mind you. Best use for one of the bloody horrible things yet

next time I get inspired about jet stuff I'll build a better combustion chamber for it and make some real power :)

Cos the zed still needs and engine and you loved the turbine powered cars of the 60's right?

Yeah, but it could have a gas turbine engine which would be much more fun. Wonder what the going rate is for one out of an M1 with the transmission?
